What is a good multi effects pedal. I currently have a Zoom G2 pedal and it is junk. The unit is not very durable.

I mainly need it for recording and practicing. Can any compare line 6 guitarport to Zoom g2 as far as sound quality?

The Line6 is far better than the Zoom in terms of sound quality and functionability.

Another good alternative to the Line6 Pod XT Live is the Vox Tonelab. Whichever one you choose out of those two is great, its all down to personal taste from here.

Thats in terms of multi-fx suitable for gigs or rehearsals.

The guitarport if brilliant for both recording and practicing. Guiarport online is loaded with backing tracks and artist modelled tones.
For rehearsals and gigs, it isn't quite as versatile unless you get a midi foot-controller, but I cant find any that are suitable for it anywhere.
It is great for being compact and such though - the rifftracker software is awesome.

The GP from line 6 absolutely rocks for tone and recording.
I use it to record my music.

Gives you lots of options for amps/cabinets/effects. If you want to hear some of our recordings you can hear them here:

They are all done with the GP for guitar.
Rifftracker is amazing for laying down tracks...but if you want to get more control go for another recording software.

Sorry for hijacking slightly, but what amp model and such did you use for those recordings?

The treadplate or solo-100 or something?

Anyway yeah, I use the guitar port too and it really is a versatile learning tool as well as recording tool.

JCM 800 with a Rat Pedal...tweaked the settings a bit.
If you want I can post my settings file for you to download.
