Let's say that you are in for an audition smile.gif you enter the room and the band is there waiting for you to jam with them, you have learned the song but of course, the emotions start kicking in. What would you do?

have you ever been in that situation? What have you done to make it through and take the spot?

Hmm. Well, tryouts are always a bit stressful. Hopefully, if you've learned the track, play it well and maybe toss in something of your own here and there, you'll get a call back smile.gif But you never know. I've auditioned for several gigging bands over the years and it usually ended up being more about trying to get a feel for whether each other was crazy/drugged up/dependable or what. Once you show you can actually play, the focus seems to shift right away to personality and such. A gigging band wants to know that the "New Guy/Gal" isn't going to flake off right before the next gig, or call from Jail, or pawn his gear etc.

In a few cases, I was the guy stepping in to replace the guy that did something nutty/silly/stupid, right before a gig. So the best piece of advice might be, show up on time, be professional, and assure them you are sane, sober, and responsible. Those three thing can land you gigs. It doesn't "sound" very Rock n Roll, but it is "Show Business" after all.
