Hello and welcome to GMC
You can buy pretty good guitar for 500EUR if you are a beginner. Try Fender Squier if you like blues, funk and some jazz. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Hello
Welcome to GMC (Another Dutchie ) I think you gonna like it a lot. For a new guitar just go to your local guitar shop and try some axe you like. After you have tried one in your local store maybe you can check for a second hand one on marktplaats.nl or Ebay. Somethimes you can find a good fender stratocaster which are good for blues and funk for reasonable price (€750) What kind of amp have you got? Welcome to the site Janneke
For your style of music any strat-type guitar would suit well. I would suggest you look for e.g. a good squier strat, but most importantly try a couple of different guitars in a shop just to feel and hear them, and I am sure you will be able to make some differentiation what you like and what not. -------------------- "Don't practice until you get it right. I have an Ibanez GTA15R amp. When the gain is on a higher level then 2 I get strange, crappy sound. A bit nasty I'm not sure it is the amp or the guitar. Okay that is good for playing at home. When you buy a new guitar try this with your amp to get a good compare -------------------- Gear:

Welcome to GMC Janneke, make yourself at home!
Regarding new guitar, I agree with Fran, I think getting a MIM Stratocaster (Made In Mexico) would be a pretty good solution for blues funk and even jazz some day, why not! If you like the sound of single coil pickups than Strat would be a good choice, if you like the sound of humbuckers then possibly check out Epiphone Les Paul guitars. They hold a good value as well. Regarding the frets, you can try to do a fret evening/polishing job with some local guitar tech, it shouldn't cost too much and if done properly it should save you a lot of trouble with that guitar. If you need anything else, just ask, we'll try to help. Cheers. This post has been edited by Ivan Milenkovic: Feb 26 2009, 12:23 AM -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE
