The funny thing is that we have 2 guitar players in the building. She lies just in between biggrin.gif

laugh.gif you should try to blame the other one unsure.gif

I have some ideas that could make unplugged guitar appear as heaven to your neighbour.

- Always wear clogs indoors. Keep extra pairs for your visitors.
- Tell your neighbour you gave up guitar to start practicing riverdance instead (wearing clogs)
- Pick up a karaoke set programmed only with songs in japanese
- Join a motorcycle gang and throw plenty of parties
- Work on the theme song to Balamory for a couple of hours every night

the list could go on forever laugh.gif

No problems with the neighbours for me, my house is detached for starters and also I very rarely play through an amp at home, sometimes if its late at night and my wifes gone to bed she`ll moan that she can hear the picking noise but she actually complains about it more when I`m practicing something over and over and over again and says it drives her mad hearing me play something a hundred times over laugh.gif

Yeah I find that also. People seem more annoyed if they hear the same thing over and over again. If you mix it up a bit they don't tend to. If my neighbours complained I'd just listen to music and sing awfully along with it biggrin.gif

Wow, that's amazing if a neighbour came to my apartment complaining about noise when I'm unplugged I would be astonished to say the least!

There are two ways to solve this:
1) Try to be friendly and do what they want
2) Forget about it all and just follow the law, I bet there are certain limits, but I'm sure they are not that low as to not be able to play unplugged... even if it's late at night.

One more thing: Your walls must be really, really thin!! wink.gif

Keep playing unplugged with electric as they can't get you in trouble as if anybody does a decibel reading it wouldn't pick up anywhere near enough noise for anytime in the day.

Play over the other side of the house? Yur Pod is protable but your cable modem is not I guess ...

I used to be really sensitive about this when I played in an upstairs bedroom, and even more so when I lived with my mother in law for a while (always headphense then!)

But now I play underground and my wife is very accomodating bless her!. Any sound has to get out of one closed door, through the garage and out of a second closed door, where it is funneled down a stone driveway before it meets the rest of the workd - I play loud and have had no complaints, nor do I feel guilty about turning it up as I always have in the past - bliss!

She'll probably complain that your breathing is too loud next rolleyes.gif .

Seriously though she is being a tad bit over sensitive and with that probably unreasonable imho. Fair play to you though for doing loads to find a solution smile.gif .

Cheers,
Tony

Try somehow isolating the room. Try putting a carpet on all the walls? That might not look fantastic though....

By the way, do you own the apartment or is it just rented? If latter is the case, I might suggest moving. Then you won't even need headphones dry.gif

There are so many funny things to quote, laugh.gif By the way, I am always trying to be nice. Law allows me to make noise from 6 to 22, i already agreed only to play acoustic in the afternoon/very early evening...

I am proud of the sustain of my guitar, but I still can't believe this has happened. I hope I was dreaming instead tongue.gif

The bassist of one of my bands actually gave me a 1 million dollar idea: record very loud snoring and let it playing all night in my computer . Then I just keep practicing my guitar and she can't complain about my snoring problem...
And, of course, he wants to rehearse here, biggrin.gif
