GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ New Here And Already Loving It:)

Posted by: SCProphet Nov 25 2011, 12:27 PM

Hi guys, my name is Michael (SCProphet) and i'm from Belgium , I'm 20 years old and love any music that has taken alot of sweat, soul and work to create.

I've been playing music since 2004, starting with playing drums, since I was still in High school at the time I had alot of free time so I added guitar (in 2005) to my instrument list. In 2009 a friend of mine was looking for a bassplayer so I added that as well (Yes I had alooooot of free time). I also have my dad's keyboard in my room where I like to mess a bit with and I'm trying to evolve my singing skills.

Ever since I could play my first drumbeat or hit my first chord I've been writing music in all styles of Metal. I'm currently working on my solo project (it's impossible to find good musicians in my country) and working on a folk metal project with a mate.

I'm currently studying political sciences in the university of Ghent here in Belgium, so I dont have that much time anymore. Wich means I'm now only practicing playing the drums and playing guitar. Bass and Piano can wait untill later, But still trying to become a singer:)

I play ESP guitars and Hudges & Kettner amps

My gear
- Esp Horizon from 1991
- LTD V 500
- LTD F 50 (my very first guitar, still love it)
- Hudges & Kettner Coreblade head
- Hudges & Kettner oversized coreblade Cabinet
- Zoom 9.2tt Effect pedal (for practicing)
- Roland Cube 30 (for practicing)
- Polytune chromatic tuner (pedal)

Hi Michael and welcome to GMC smile.gif

I also had that problem with musicians.. I think it's the same wherever you are. Trying to get the right balance of musicianship / personality / dedication etc.. it's a minefield wink.gif

Yeah, as Gabriel said, you'll have to share some of your folk metal project with us cool.gif

Thanks for the reply's
Here it's especialy the decication to music that is a problem, most people here learn how to play untill a certain level where they feel like a rockstar and then they stop improving. Like a guitar has become a fashion object.

I'll record some tracks when I get my new pc:)

PS: I just liked the reckoning on facebook:p

Yeah I really hate that attitude, Most of them don't even try mastering hard techniques like sweeping. I've been practicing your 'power of mini sweeps" lesson for about an hour a day and its really paying off:p Now I'm stepping over to 3 string sweeps.

I'm anticipating the album then:p

Hey, that's brilliant ! wink.gif I'm glad that it's also helped you move onto larger sweeps like a stepping stone.

Yes, no doubt I will spread the news all over GMC when it's ready wink.gif
