HI.
I am considering the purchase of a Roland Cube 20X amp. If anyone owns, or has played with one of these...your thoughts?

What type of music are you going to be using it for?

Personally, I'd recommend paying a little extra and getting the 30x. You get much better amp models to choose from and the extra wattage is nice. At low practise volumes it sounds better than my mates $650 marshall stack happy.gif It's one of the best heavy metal practise amps around for sure.

Heres some more info for you.

I played through one several times, it is OK, has a nice clean sound for the size and price.

I own a 30 watts CUBE. The clean channel it's very good, imho... and the modeled amps... well, for the price can't ask for more. Very high quality/price ratio.

Best regards.

Hay man,
I have the roland cube 30x, for videos and practicing. I personally love it and wouldn't use any other small amp:)
A couple of my private students have the 20x and get through practicing and jamming very happily.
Hope that helps!

I played a microcube for a bit and it has some nice sounds but you do not have much control over the sound. What i mean is there 6 amp models and the rest of the controls dont make muich difference. This might not be the case in the bigger cubes though.

I have a Cube 20X for almost a year now never had any problems with it and i like it very much the clean channel is great and the lead channels are nice its great value for a low price but i did buy a Boss distortion pedal for better distortion.

I also own the roland cube 20x.
I think it is great practice amp for beginner/intermediate that does not have much gear, but it is not a very good buy if you own more stuff.

The clean channel is really nice if you plug your guitar directly but it colors the sound too much if you are running through other things before (like my POD X3 live).

If you play loud enough the distorted channel sound reasonable for the price you pay, but it is of course a cheap practice amp so it is not exactly what one may be looking for...

I've been actually considering selling mine cube 20x and buying a fender champion, as my current use of amp is mainly to hear my playing without earphones. And I can't play the distorted channel loud enough to have a reasonable sound, because I live in 1 room apartment...

I have a 30x I got for $183 on sale. It's ok, just kinda sounds outta control at higher volume/gain levels but this may or may not be due to my lack of knowledge on setup. Up to half volume it does sound good. I don't do much with the clean channel biggrin.gif Attached Image
