Mr Tosin Abasi is the definition of "Guitar Hero" IMHO. His sheer skill and mastery of the instrument is balanced by the fact that he is just a very cool laid back guy. He went to a local private music school in Atlanta and then toured with his band. His entire style of play is sorta like, what if legendary bass player VICTOR WOOTEN had a love child with JASON BECKER. Here is Mr Beato with Tosin breaking it all down.

QUESTION: ARE YOU A FAN OF TOSIN?

I can certainly appreciate how good he is but I'm not drawn to the music

I do get tired of his music after about 3 songs. His technique is so unique that it sometimes ends up taking over the composition. I'm very impressed by his ability and he's certainly earned his place. The new breed of "instagram" players are also creating their own space in music. One band called POLYPHIA is at the center of the storm. I like their stuff but also about 3 songs then something else in the playlist. How about you?

The same here... I really respect his skills and talent, but I can't listen to more than 1 song.. sometimes I can't finish 1 song. ohmy.gif

I quite enjoy animals as leaders. Not only the guitar work, but Matt Garstka's drumming
Polyphia doesnt ring that much with me tbh.

It's a proven fact that guitar faces have a bigger impact on tone than wood does.

I like em both in small bursts smile.gif A few songs in a playlist. There are some bands that dig entire albums from, but the art of making an album where all the tracks seem to lead in to one another is a bit of a fading art. It used to be the hallmark of a great band.
