GMC Forum _ Bands and Guitarists _ Synthisizer Guitar

Posted by: Guitar Master123 Oct 19 2007, 05:16 AM

I saw this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNgDUsP9OWk play a cool looking guitar connected to a synthisizer and he could make it sound like a drum kit, a sax and pretty much everything else.

And I also found another video of http://www.youtube.comwatchv=UXvyCdDMsQQ&mode=related&search= doing the same thing but I think it was better. biggrin.gif

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UHBVj-vDLA got me interested in synth guitar - once had the pleasure of playing a SynthAxe destined for him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g6nPYyIS_I&mode=related&search= and Holdsworth did some absolutely great guitar synth stuff back in the 80s. I'm more in to composition and so prefer this to some of the more typical guitar orientated stuff.

But for those who like speed Metheny and Holdsworth can play as fast as shredders and both have phenomenal technique smile.gif .

Cheers,
Tony

I don't know. I looked all over for one. But it isn't the guitar that makes the cool sounds. Its a different thing. But those guitars are awesome smile.gif I should of asked Michael what kind it was.

Wasn't Andy Summers also heavily involved in the early guitar synth initiatives?

He certainly was Resurrection - used to use the Roland GR303 I think. Other key players were Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp. I always thought that the old King Crimson album Discipline sounds like it has a guitar synth on it but I believe its guitar effects and tape splicing = great album though.

Tony

I know its the synth making the effects, but I was just curious what guitar that was.

It is cool how it just has the outline of the body and the head at the body.
