I would like to recommend this web site : www.finetune.com , its a radio/streaming web site..You can listen to various play lists or make your own..Its very fun to make your own list , it has neat features like recommending similar artists etc..Player is nice , displays cover art and everything...Good place to hear something new!

Also neat feature for those who own a Nintendo Wii console - http://www.finetune.com/wii/ , if you have internet setup on the console it makes a really cool music player for wii ! smile.gif Great for parties smile.gif

I use AOL radio over Winamp, it has genres nicely listed, so you can choose various stations. Other service also in WInamp is Shoutcast radio.

I used to listen to pandorra web radion a lot.
You can type an artist you like in the search field and the station will play music from that genre. During each song you can choose if you like this song or you don't. According to your input the station will automatically choose the music you like.
After the radio was restricted to american people only I switched to last.fm The idea is similiar to pandorra.
You can use the player on their website or you download the programm which comes with additional information about the artist you are currently listening at.
I found a lot of new great bands using this software.
in my opinion the best radio station.

Whfr.fm

The only radio I listen to nowadays. It still keeps the main essence of radio, without the terrible additives of ad's, endless commercials, and the terrible repeating bands in there play list. Where else are you gonna find an actual radio station that plays death metal or black metal or even noise/experimental the next hour? Maybe in a lot of areas around the world, but its a dying breed. Online one genre radio stations will essentially make me crazy hearing 24 hours of metal or something.

Yes, I am biased I know, but WHFR really does make me happy. Hearing different music, every 2 hours of every day 24/7 of non stop genre hopping, and the best thing is.... We know what we play by heart.

Call me a geek, but I love WCRadio.com xD
It's a World of Warcraft radio station tongue.gif I don't play WoW anymore, but I've gotten emotionally connected with the shows and hosts there, since it's a community based radio station. You can interact with show hosts though IRC or E-mail during the shows, since that's how most shows go on there; The host(s) talk about a subject and asks about your opinion while he/she/they talk about it. Then they read out some comments, and either argues it or (with some hosts) calls you stupid tongue.gif
Between shows, they play either old reruns from shows, or great music from OC Remix ^^

I know this sounds like advertising, but I really love the station tongue.gif

For any who like the avant garde Resonance FM can be good.

Cheers,
Tony

ps - Vested interest declaration - I know, trained and worked with some of the original Resonance crew so I'm a bit biased.

After pandora was closed to those outside US I stated using jango and lastfm, they are almost as good. I usually listen to shoutcast (winamp) a lot. Will try finetune right now!

Yes, great one but unfortunatly it's closed for this part of the world now. They closed the dorr over a year ago I think.
Jango is on par with Pandora though.

Adding another one to this list.
Spotify, www.spotify.com, I've been using it for a while now.

Subscribe in one (or more) of three ways:
Pay for a day or month, or "free" listening with commercial breaks.
You install a slim, leightweight player and log in.

It's open for paying subsriptions. The free listening is beta and invite only.
After using it for some time you'll get a few invites to hand out, at least I did.
I know they did a drive in UK and the free signup from UK worked last week at least.
So if you are in UK or figure out how to register an account from UK you are in. I wont tell how, that's todays Internet home assignement. tongue.gif

They are still missing some labels, like Beatles, Pink Floyd and AC/DC because of licensing issues not solved yet.
The free listening is interrupted maybe once in 10 - 15 plays with commercial spot.

I'm using spotify quite a lot aswell, I think it's great. It doesn't have everything, but it does have more than I thought it would have. I think it's great. It's good for both the music industry and us listeners, I might even go so far and call it "the future".
