Hey guys,
My name is Jeffrey J Rooks, and I started to play guitar around the age of 10 but never really got into it until I got my electric guitar. I had always loved music and had a natural talent in it(not to be egotistical ). Music always found a way to ease my mind or pump me up for something which is why I like it; any feeling I have I can express it through guitar. Actually about a year ago I had been playing my 2nd guitar I got when, my friend called me about a riff contest being held at Richmond Music Cente.r I was stoked when I heard that the contest was "play for favorite Eric Clapton Riff." Which was ironic because at that time I was extremely into Eric Claptons' works. I went there as fast as I could, but when I got there I was extremely nervous/excited. I got up on stage and performed "Tears in Heaven." Soon after everyone had finished we were all asked up onto the stage for dubing the winner. I heard my name being called out for 1st prize and I just was frozen with shock... I was thinking to myself, "no way I just won, look at these people around me! I thought they whooped me bad". But in the end I had actually won. The prize for winning was 2 tee shirts, 96.5 the planet shirt and richmond music center shirt. 2 ticket to the Eric Clapton concert being held at john Paul Jones Arena and a limo ride there and back! After this experience I got so much into guitar I decided I wanted to buy a new guitar, which led me to my guitar: Schecter C-1 FR Hellraiser. Now I am 15 and can say I am doing well with guitar and I think I could make a living with my talents that I have. Right now I am In a band Infallible we play hard rock/metal and I am Rhythm Guitarist/Vocals, my best friends on drums and bass/lead. But im sorry to say that I think we will be needing a new lead/bassist=( We have 2 songs that are actually worth recording and lots others in the process=P I hope we can get it all settled so I can show you guys what I've done with guitar. I'm glad to be here in GMC; where there is always a great lesson to learn or a knowledgable staff member ready to help you in anyway you need. Keep up all your good works here on GMC and hope to see you soon...
-Jeffrey
