I was just doing some research for a friend of mine and think that I might turn my research into a Wiki page if anyone is interested in reading about this part of Japanese building History.
Anyone particularly interested in this??

What is it vaguely about? I've never heard the phrase "lawsuit era" before.

Hey Matt,
Well, it refers to the late 70's and Early 80's when several Japanese Manufacturers were threatened with 'Copyright Lawsuits' by both Fender and Gibson for producing copies of various models that were exact in every detail, except that a lot of the time the Jap copies were of a far better quality than their American counterparts!
These things are getting quite collectible now!!
judging by the interest looks like you'll be able to read up on it when I've written the Article!!!

I had a Tokai strat that was awesome.... I still have the neck though... I scalloped it in the beginning of the eighties, so I guess I have to learn some Yngwie stuff when putting back in action... Sorry, Off Topic. Sure Jones, it will be wonderful reading !!!

That's exactly it!!!
I've just been in touch with my friend Rob, who is probably the most knowledgeable person on this era and the instruments and he's going to let me use some pics from his own Guitar Collection and also supply me with as much info as I need!!!!
Wish me luck chaps, this could end up being an Epic along the same lines as LOTR!!!!!!
