Use TuxGuitar then!

Yeah just run the update to get the latest version so you can open the files..Also you may use the free alternative TuxGuitar mentioned above

I tried it and the instrument i put in RSE didn't produce any sound. Are normal Midi instruments playing? |

If I remember correctly there was a separate install for RSE instruments made for Guitar pro... You need to install them..
