GMC Forum _ Introduce Yourself ! _ Hail From Bulgaria

Posted by: Leorris Dec 2 2008, 12:00 PM

Hi, guys I'm Dimitar and I believe I'm the first bulgarian on GMC tongue.gif
I'm 19 years old and started playing guitar when I was 16. I started with classical guitar for 2 years then got electric Peavey Raptor but my teacher couldn't teach me a thing about it. Basicly that is how I ended up here. I found the site while searching for lessons in Youtube when I ran into Kris Dahl lesson which was hillarious(Things To Play When You Suck) and so I decided to check out that GMC thing. I discovered 2 things: 1. The lessons here are awesome and I won't get enough soon; 2. I need to buy some sort of effect for my guitar cuz I run it trough my PC and it sounds just horrible wacko.gif
Well that is all from me smile.gif

Hey Dimitar. I'm not sure whether you are the first but I haven't seen many from Bulgaria that is sure smile.gif It is great to have a wide variety of people on here from different backgrounds and cultures but all together biggrin.gif

Welcome Dimitar. I like traditional music from your country. For guitar effect try POD or some sort od amp modeling effect with sound card integrated in the unit.

Hi Dimitar! welcome to GMC, as far as FX to run through your PC, a POD running through your USB port or a Korg Pandora running into your soundcard will certainly do the job a treat! smile.gif

Thanks for the tip but I already decided to buy a 60W Marshal...it will be enough for now smile.gif

That is fine but you will find it difficult to get a good recording onto a PC with that unless you mic it up into a mixing desk.

Posted by: Leorris Dec 2 2008, 01:32 PM

Well you're right but I have no plans for recording for now and that's why the Marshall seems like a good idea. If I decide to record, can't I just use my guitar-pc cable to lead the sound from the "line out" of the amp to the "mic in" of my soundcard?

I believe that what you said was the same but I'm not pretty sure so... tongue.gif

I've been in Nessebar for summer vacation back in '98, very nice place, I enjoyed 20 days there since it was very cheap biggrin.gif

Welcome to GMC smile.gif

Yeah in '98 Nessebar was a very nice place...now it is filled with hotels and restaurants and...well it is overcrowded in summer and nearly abandoned during the rest of the year

Nice to meet you. Which 60watt Marshall are you getting? I play a JCM 2000 DSL 50.

Great choice on the amp you'll be able to get any questions you have about your new amp answered on the forums here.

Hope to see you around,

Rock On!!

You can do that but you'll need a very good sound card. Regular sound cards record with too much latency (lag in the sound) when you do it that way, that's why most people record through USB using a POD/Toneport/Pandora etc.

Haha, I love this video, good humor and intelligent approach

Welcome Dimitar to GMC, enjoy your stay!

And you do need a good soundcard to connect with your amp directly and get a decent sound smile.gif

Welcome Dimitar smile.gif If that is a solid state Marshall, IMO of course, I think you can get just as good of tone with a recording interface like the ones mentioned. Probably spend less money too! Good luck either way and hope you enjoy GMC! smile.gif

a warm welcome from Turkey, you just found the Holy Grail biggrin.gif

Hope you'll have a good time...

Welcome to the site, now for recording on pc, you have to enter the line output of the amp into the line input, using the mic in will amplify the original signal twice. If you are going for onboard sound card check the asio for all drivers. However I recomend you to get some dedicated 2 in 2 out soundcard for handling the vst.
