This is the deal, the preamp of my Switchblade is quite squealy when I turn up the gain. Can you reccomend me, preferably out of own experience, a noise gate that'll kill the squeal? To go in the fx-loop that is.
I have realized that the market of noise gates is a little bit trixtery, some gear aren't noise gates in that sense but just hum cancelers. 50 cycle hum isn't a problem, pedals taking care of that only aren't an option. Some works well in the loop but not infront of the amp, others the other way around. Can't buy em all until I strike a good one. Suggestions? -------------------- My bands homepage

I would recommend the ISP Decimator Pedal. Thanks! Have you tested it, or heard it, after the preamp so you know for sure it will silence the squeal? I need to know for a fact it'll shut a noisy preamp up before I go order one. -------------------- My bands homepage

AFAIK a noise gate won't work in the EFX loop if the loop is parallel.

I would recommend the ISP Decimator Pedal. It is a bit more expensive then other brands (Boss NS-2, etc) but it sucks almost NO tone and has the fastest and most precise reacting smartgate of all pedals I have tried (well the rocktron hush rack and the ISP decimator rack are better but I am talking stompboxes) While reading up on the ISP decimator I read somewhere that the guys who developed this model were the same ppl who first had made the hush noise gate. I can't verify that though, just something I read somewhere. But as far as the ISP Decimator goes it looks like it's the thing for me, or the Decimator G-string that'llwork both ways. One would kill the hum infront of the amp while it's also plugged into the loop. The Nova Dynamics from TC Electronic also seem like a good tool, two separate pedals in one unit it works either as a compressor or a noise gate or both. Meaning the first engine could sit before the amp and work as a noise gate to remove 50 cycle hum while the other sits in the loop to clean up the hiss. Or compressor before and noise gate in loop. Question is how well it'll handle the hiss/squela from the loop. ISP at least had some descriptive soundclips on their site. AFAIK a noise gate won't work in the EFX loop if the loop is parallel. Reading reviews there are some who rate these pedals very low saying; it only works infront of the amp, in the loop it does nothing. You solved their problem... if they only read GMC -------------------- My bands homepage

I saw the guys from Black Dahlia Murder using the Boss NS-2 on a Dual Rectifier, it sounded damn tight!
But I don't know if it's great for squealing...will check out the ISP Decimator -------------------- Visit my:
