GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Got The Call And My Guitar Is In :)

Posted by: rokchik Sep 24 2008, 10:47 PM

Well like the title says my new guitar is in smile.gif

Here is a bit of background for ya. I have a Les Paul, which I love, but since I started playing I've got it in my head that well you need more then one guitar smile.gif So I have been on the hunt for a new one for oh about a year. I've looked at Ibanez, almost bought one a few times but always talked myself out of it, Schecter, another Gibson, Fender you name it I've looked at it. But I could never find one that just made me say "that's it". then one day while flipping through Guitar World there it was, the second most beautiful guitar I ever saw. (Of course my LP was the first wink.gif ) I had my Wayne moment of "Oh yes it shall be mine". What was making me drool so you ask well http://www.prsguitars.com/tremonti/index.html!!! Isn't it beautiful? Now I've never played it but to be honest I never played my LP before I bought it either and I LOVE that. I'm a firm believer in if I'm paying that much for a guitar, it's going to be good. I know many will not agree but I'm a ya get what ya pay for kinda gal.

I'm so excited. For those who don't know me so well, where I live there is NO, I repeat NO guitar stores. The closets one is a 2.5 hour plane ride away in St. John's, NL. Now they will ship stuff to me, but I have lucked out and am going to be in the city next Thursday for 4 days. (I'm going to see Elton John. Also exciting... it is just him and a piano smile.gif ) Since I knew this I had the guys order me one a little while ago. It took forever to get in, I thought it wasn't going arrive in time for my trip but they called today and it is there, and has my name on it smile.gif

Only 8 more days, which seems like an eternity atm, but I'll be sure to take loads and loads of pics when I get it. Did I mention that I was excited smile.gif

Here is a closer look and in the color I ordered.

I just LOVE that tobacco sunburst vintage style cool.gif Beautiful! Congratulations smile.gif

Posted by: ZakkWylde Sep 24 2008, 10:51 PM

Played the all black version a few weeks ago and I loved it! Tremonti found the perfect pickups for great cleans and thight Metal/Rock sounds. Although it's carved out for the springs because of the Tremolo it's still heavy as hell, like a custom Les Paul and it sounds just great with a cranked Marshall^^

Posted by: Hisham Al-Sanea Sep 24 2008, 10:54 PM

congrats rokchik..nice choice

Posted by: Smells Sep 24 2008, 10:54 PM

oooh beautiful! I bet your chomping at the bit to get hold of it, gratz on your purchase, good choice! look forward to some "Live" pics. smile.gif

Thanks everyone and yes I'm chomping at the bit... my jaw hurts actually wink.gif

Thanks for this Zakk as I've only really heard the sound bites on the PRS site, which sound fantastic, but it's nice to hear good things from someone who has actually played it and is not trying to sell it to me. As for the weight, I'm use to my LP standard so I'm not too worried but thanks for the heads up.

That is beautiful! I'm glad I'm not the only Tremonti fan biggrin.gif

Posted by: bsamn Sep 25 2008, 12:45 AM

Congrats Rokchik

Posted by: sidewas lightning Sep 25 2008, 01:25 AM

I saw that article in Guitar World too! Add a floyd rose and that is your sideways lightning signature guitar. tongue.gif
Unfortunately, I am on a tight budget, so I cannot afford it, but I just realized how close my dream guitar is to that thing. I'm more partial to the flamed red than the sunburst, but that's a matter of personal preference I suppose.

Posted by: Praetorian Sep 25 2008, 02:29 AM

Very nice! There is NOTHING like a new guitar!

Posted by: inertia Sep 25 2008, 02:47 AM

Awesome, congrats!
My next guitar is between that and the custom 24, the tremolo option is great and the tremonti has great pickups

Posted by: Chief Brody Sep 25 2008, 04:18 AM

This may just be my PRS bias coming through but reading the first part of your post i just KNEW that you were getting a PRS (maybe everyone with a PRS suddenly gains a psychic link blink.gif )

Congrats on the axe, i actually look at that one myself when i was on the market for a new guitar a little while back, went for a 2006 PRS Standard Singlecut instead but i must say i'm still a little jealous that you're gonna be playing that beauty!

I guess this could be true.... however there is one tiny little problem..... I am a women biggrin.gif tongue.gif So I guess I'm the luckiest women in the world then wink.gif But it's all good cause I'm getting a new PRS whoot !!!!

Thanks everyone. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's a beautiful guitar. And I'm really glad some have played it and said good things too. It's making it harder to wait to get it, but it's worth it in the end. And Chief Brody are you saying that I will too have the physic ability to correspond with other PRS owners... if so I have a few questions for Mr. Tremonti and Santana cool.gif

No worries my dear very honest mistake... and I'm planning on doing a review of my new beast once I've had a chance to play it for a couple of days, so I'll have all kinds of feedback, good and bad... what am I saying I'm pretty positive it's going to be all good smile.gif

G-Man700 your making it harder for me to wait dude laugh.gif But I'm very excited about your feedback.... aaaargggghhhh 7 days... time seems to be standing still right now!!!!!

And thanks again everyone for your very kind comments. It's a beauty for sure and I can't wait to play it and call it my own... already have it named. It's boy smile.gif and his name is Griffin smile.gif

Posted by: Andrew Cockburn Sep 26 2008, 01:58 AM

I second that laugh.gif

I am planning on getting that guitar also when I save up enough money! I've wanted it since Mark and PRS came out with the new model, I didn't like the old one as much.

Hmmm MickeM let me think about that..... as tempting as your offer is of me giving you my LP, I think I may have to pass. Franklin may be a bit jealous at first, ya know new baby in the house and all, but I have more then enough love for both. But if it gets too hard to handle I'll keep you in mind wink.gif tongue.gif

Thanks again for all the comments guys (and yes Canis this week is long enough without you reminding me mad.gif dry.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif ) I think Mark and PRS have really created something special here and the more I hear his music the bigger fan of his I become... thus my profile pic smile.gif He is certainly up in the top five now of my fave guitarists.

..... 6 more days.... maybe if I take more naps it will make time go by quicker..... zzzzzz....zzzzzzzz

That is a beautiful guitar rockchik , congratulations. I would really know how that tremolo works.

Congratulaitons again and enjoy it .

Posted by: kaznie_NL Sep 29 2008, 05:14 PM

Is it the normal tremonti or the SE? I remember that when I saw the price of the normal, I kinda choked biggrin.gif

That would be the real Tremonti.

That is one very very beautiful guitar rokchik. I am halfway saving up for a PRS myself, but I dont think I'll afford the Tremonti model unfortunatly:)

Canis your an evil evil man mad.gif wink.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Yes it's the "real" Tremonti and yes it's costing me a small fortune. However I've been saving for a few months and I've been doing overtime at work like a mad women to get the cash... thus why my presence has been sporatic here at GMC as of late. My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts, and well the money I'm spending on this guitar could have paid for my entire trip to the UK next year but hey you only live once right? smile.gif

Posted by: blindwillie Sep 30 2008, 07:18 AM

I was really beautiful. Gratz smile.gif
