Hey guys! I wanted to tell you that I had the opportunity to sell my X3 live and I did it because I can get the HD500 at a very good price. So the investment is very low. I thought that this was a good moment to upgrade my Pod. I will have the new one the next week... I'm very anxious! smile.gif

Great news smile.gif I am getting the rack mount version for Christmas tomorrow to replace my aging Pod XT Live - they seem like decent units, I wonder how much the modeling has improved?

That's a good move. I do have an aging pod x3 too, it's been good to me, but I think it's time to move on.

I would love an Axe FX but it's very pricy, so the HD it's a good option, let us know how it went with it!

That's cool! The pro version looks so great! Are you going to use it only in studio? or you will get the midi controller for playing live?

Hey Gabriel

Are things as crazy expensive in Argentina as they are in Brazil. I was so shocked at the prices of everything in Brazil when I was there in September.

Yes. Things can cost around 160% and 200% compared to the USA. This is because of the taxes that are applied also to the shipping, + importer commission, + the instruments store commission. If you can buy directly to an importer you can save a bit of money but not too much.

Its going to live mostly in my studio but I got the foot controller board in case I ever need to take it gigging - I have a standalone rack I can transfer it to if necessary. My dream is to also get the line 6 DT25 amp that integrates with the HD - that would be a pretty decent rig with Bogner tube goodness smile.gif I'm hoping for my birthday in a couple of months ...

Aside from AxeFx the rack units sound better than most other modeling units, some of the best there is I think. So many musicians I know get such a good sound from them.

You're going to love the improvement. Fewer models in total, but the models it does have are much improved. Especially in the area of dynamics. Much more punch and clarity than the X3 which was a nice unit too. But the HDs are great.

I know many ppl are saying axe fx is currently the ultimate in modeling, but from the youtube vids I know it seems to me to be a lot about taste as well. For instance, in this video, I actually prefer the sound of the HD500. Here's another sound comparison vid. I dunno, to me the HD500 sounds more fierce here, which I like.

What I'd be interested in: how much delay is there with the HD500 when switching a channel? I have some stuff where it would be nice when you don't have a short gap when switching patches (with my current X3 live there's like a 200ms gap).

Those are cool comparisons... it's difficult to decide which one I prefer.. and that's a point for the HD since the difference in money is so high.
