GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Youtube Guitar Competition

Posted by: Quantum Oct 10 2014, 10:42 PM

Hello, everybody!

It is really nice to be back at GMC. I just love the motivation that
I get from the videochats and the collabs. Greetings to all of you, folks.

I intend to organize a sponsored guitar competition on YouTube in the near future.
One has to upload videos and "solve some guitar problems". More info coming soon.
I think it'd be a really fun and challenging event.

Who'd like to participate and win the big prize? smile.gif

Greetings,

Dian

I love collabs and competitions. I still remember the crazy competitions we had here at GMC some years ago smile.gif

Hey mate! Welcome back to GMC! smile.gif

Organizing a competition sounds great! What's the prize? What's the competition based on?

Posted by: Quantum Oct 11 2014, 08:49 PM

Still working on the details. But I'll post them ASAP. smile.gif

Heeeeeeeey!

Welcome back man! How's life? Looking forward to see the news on the competition! In the mean time, please update us on your current life as a player and musician - I remember you started to have a lot of activity and live videos last time we have discussed wink.gif

Thanks, mates! smile.gif

I have been studying physics in Heidelberg, Germany for an year now.
I noticed that the university started to take my love from physics, so
I decided to quit and become an entrepreneur musician.

I'm still learning physics, just in a different way.

That is why I have all the time I need to be here again now.

Greetings,

Dian

Hey Dian! That's a bold step mate! Welcome back once again and I really hope that life will offer you the right environment for your career!

What have you been practicing and working on from a musical perspective? And how would you describe yourself from the perspective of being an entrepreneur musician? Are you still in Germany?

Lots of questions, I know, but since you made such an important move, maybe you can inspire others that wish to act like you did smile.gif

Well, thank you, Cosmin.

I have been practicing and working mainly on blues, improvisation and songwriting.
Last month I actually made my dream come true and did a video playing with Joe Bonamassa. (30 sec. though biggrin.gif)

I would describe myself as someone who has the absolute beginner's perspective. I just soak up
all the info that my mentors are giving me and try to implement it in my own ways. With that said, I am
extremely commited to get things done. About 10 projects with an 1-year deadline.

Yes, I am still in Germany and I'm looking forward to get back home ASAP. (and still travel the world, ofcourse)

It'd be super interesting to meet you in person in your home countries. smile.gif

Greetings,

Dian

biggrin.gif Thanks, but I didn't actually do any recording with him.
I just have a video on my camera, playing with him backstage.
Which is still absolutely awsome. He even took the trouble to
pronounce my mother's name right, because the video was a surprise
for her.

A great man.

Greetings,

Dian

Wow! That's amazing! Well now biggrin.gif it would be great if you could share the video with everyone here smile.gif If it's possible of course, if it's a special gift to your mom and it's something intimate and very personal, we will surely understand, but if you see it fitting, I think it would be an amazing memory which you could share with your family here at GMC wink.gif

Of course, if you have more vids showcasing your current playing, I'd be happy to see them wink.gif

I'm thinking of uploading it ASAP.
I'd be happy if it serves as an inspiration. smile.gif

Wow, that's great Dian! I think that these sort of encounters are incredibly beneficial for any aspiring artist such as all of us here at GMC and not only. Usually, a great percentage of all these people that have made it in the music business as true musicians, are very humble and enlightened persons who can boost your energy and really put you on the move! Hope it was the case for you as well and I am looking forward to seeing the vid biggrin.gif

That is fantastic biggrin.gif nice one!

God! That adrenaline rush biggrin.gif laugh.gif I know exactly how it feels when you wanna get the damn thing tuned and it doesn't quite get there and you wish it would be done already, because Joe Bonamassa is next to ya laugh.gif

Fantastic!!! Such a great and inspirational moment!

Posted by: Quantum Oct 21 2014, 12:27 PM

True story, Cosmin. biggrin.gif

I was completely oblivious to everything else.
Didn't notice at all what they were saying/doing.
I had my focus almost 100% on tuning.

And if you watch carefully, Joe's looking at my fingers
the whole time while playing. Why didn't I prepare better? xD
I titan is looking at me playing and I managed to pull off
a few cliché licks that every starting player knows.

Well... there goes my stage fright. Never to return again. biggrin.gif

Who's next?

Greetings,

Dian

@Dian - you can find inspiration on building the thread if you might want to take a look at Taka's collab that we just wrapped up last week:
