Shipping Acoustic Guitars For Long Distances, How safe is this?

Nov 29 2009, 06:26 PM	Accomplished Tone Guru Posts: 959 Joined: 13-July 08 From: Oslo, NO	hi guys I`m planning on buying myself a proper acoustic, since I`ve lately played it a lot because I`d completely forgotten how beautiful it sounds when played right. Unfortunately, my current acoustic is an old ibanez which both sounds and looks okay, but the neck has a high action and a basebat-like neck. It`s now strung with 0.10 strings which is pretty thin for a acoustic. If strung with 0.11 or 0.12, holding chords and more difficult things are very hard to play on it. the case: It`s a known fact that ebay is usuallt the best place to get good value for your cash, and if packed properly in a case, I got no problems by ordering a solid body guitar. on the other hand, I`m not sure how it is with an acoustic, as they are a bit more fragile right? Yes, I presume a flight case would be a very sturdy and solid shipping option. The bad side, it will make the shipping raise a bit because of the weight. Still, by buying high end I think there still is a bit to "save". The best way to think about shipping an Acoustic is that the less distance it has to travel the less chance of damage. I have to admit, I dunno how to lower the action...nor that it was possible Do I need to change the nut, or are there some secrets that I have yet to discover ?
