hi guys

I`m planning on buying myself a proper acoustic, since I`ve lately played it a lot because I`d completely forgotten how beautiful it sounds when played right. Unfortunately, my current acoustic is an old ibanez which both sounds and looks okay, but the neck has a high action and a basebat-like neck. It`s now strung with 0.10 strings which is pretty thin for a acoustic. If strung with 0.11 or 0.12, holding chords and more difficult things are very hard to play on it.

the case: It`s a known fact that ebay is usuallt the best place to get good value for your cash, and if packed properly in a case, I got no problems by ordering a solid body guitar. on the other hand, I`m not sure how it is with an acoustic, as they are a bit more fragile right?

Will it be enough if sent with a hardcase, or is there anything else I should require the seller to send it in?

Hmm If they put it in a hardcase (flight case) and pad the interior for guitar to be in place I don't see much of a problem shipping it that way. Though you never know how seller will pack it, it may be best to use well known seller or one you had good experience with.

Yes, I presume a flight case would be a very sturdy and solid shipping option. The bad side, it will make the shipping raise a bit because of the weight. Still, by buying high end I think there still is a bit to "save".
If buying locally, my options are some Ibanezes and Takamines which retails at 700-1200 $, so those are not totally out of the question neither wink.gif

You could also consider lowering the action of your Ibanez for a fraction of the cost and less risk!!!!

The best way to think about shipping an Acoustic is that the less distance it has to travel the less chance of damage. If it's coming overseas Airfreight then make sure it's insured as some Baggage Handlers are not particularly careful when loading!

Hmmm I don't know, maybe you should look up those locally. If its not that drastic price difference its worth being able to try the guitar that you want to buy...

I have to admit, I dunno how to lower the action...nor that it was possible tongue.gif

My guitars travelled around the world in flight cases many many times, and I never had a problem, I would notcheck them in without such a case though. And option would be trying to take them as hand luggage, but that depends on the flight company.
