Hey guys.Lately i realized that my picking speed has been dramatically increased by the way holding the pick.And the funny thing about that is, i discovered this accidently.One day i was trying to play a very fast lick,suddenly the pick is slipped through my fingers a little and i realized i can play this lick faster! this way I used to try to play faster licks with this type of holding.



Now i use this holding type for faster licks.And i can play those licks way better than before Does anybody have had an experience like this besides me?





And this is my pick.Sexy,isn't it?

Haaaaaaaah, I'm guessing that isn't a Dunlop

The less you reveal of the pick, the less it moves, and the more control you have. The same concept works for pick thickness too, but then things start to come down to personal preference.

When you're playing something quickly, keeping the area exposed to a comfortable minimum is a must.

I guess thats how it happens! Gilbert says after 8 years of his style of picking, he found a better way without straining his hand.

Yup/ But In my case, I had to experiment quite many ways of picking and how to hold it. I haven't yet found the perfect way but at times, it feels like the pick rested on the hand perfectly and I do not want to move it.

Alas, I can't pick now as my right thumb cut in an accident and have to rest for 4 more weeks.

Interesting. I too have found that sometimes when I'm showing less of the pic, I too play more accurately, maybe a bit faster. Nothing dramatic though, but I guess I'll keep trying!
