Interesting Tweaks To Pentatonics

I like taking Maj and Min pents and using them in different ways, or altering them to fit certain chords. The cool thing is there are many ways you can do this to fit your tastes and style. So there isn't one version of a Mixo Pent for example, you can come up with a few that you like and move between them like: 1 3 4 5 b7 1 2 3 5 b7 1 3 5 6 b7 etc As long as it has 5 notes and outlines the harmony you can call it a Pentatonic Scale, it's just not the standard Major or Minor version that we're used to seeing. Seems a little ridiculous to actually 'name' it in this case) McLaughlin uses it a lot. Also using a stock* minor penta up an m3 for m7b5 chords. Example: for Gm7b5 play a Bb minor pentatonic (Bb Db Eb F Ab) - I derive it from either Bb dorian or Bb mel.min. in this case. Also both of those scales work well with Gm7b5. Actually, I've been using the minor pentatonic scale transposed up a minor 3rd for eliciting the altered scale feel. For example over an E7 or andy E7alt chord at the V position, I play a G minor pentatonic, and all the 5 notes are important notes for creating the E7alt sound (G can be seen as a #9 of the E7 chord (which is obviously an F double sharp), Bb is the b5, C (a disguised B#) is the #5, D is the minor 7th, and F is b9.
