Maybe it's me. I know there has to be fret markers on the side of the neck to use, but I find this fretboard very confusing. Do you?

Nice fretboard!. It would be great to play live with that guitar. It reminds me John Myung bass at Metropolis 2000: Scenes from New York

Similar to the "Vine of Life" inlay on the higher end Ibanez's. Fluent player's have no problem with it due to their muscle memory and overall knowledge of the fretboard. For me, I'd be lost on the first bar.. laugh.gif Looks cool though! cool.gif

actually, if you look at the Vine of Life inlay closely, you'll see that where there is normally dots on a guitar, there are more leaves on those frets. It's actually very distinguishable. Take another look, you will see what I mean.

You can also look at it as a language. You already know more words than there are frets * strings on that neck. After a little adjustment, you will naturally pick them up as visual cues the same way you do the standard (and less-complicated) inlays now.

so true, lots of people back away from the C1-Classic just because they think "the inlays will confuse you". they will at first, but like everything else in life, you simply need to adjust to it. I personally never had a problem when I play on that guitar, probably because I never relied on inlays for markers in the first place. And yes, there are fret markers on the side.

I spelled my username wrong...I didn't even think that was possible!

Look at the topic for my guitar...
Finished Guitar Build

Gear:
Homemade strat (You still need to look at its topic!)
Squier strat (probably going to get rid of it and get another guitar instead) :)
Line 6 spider amp (not actually used for anything, just acts as a speaker)
Digitech Gnx2 (kind of old, but cheap, and sounds amazing!)

I think you'd soon get used to it, I had an Acoustic with an amazing inlay on the neck and it didn't take long to recognise reference points!
