Did you ever think about what will be the mainstream music in say 100 years, taking in consideration what the music WAS and what IS now. Can you post some thoughts?

I believe that rock music will then be reffered in a similar way that we are looking at classical or jazz music today. It will be divided into era's like rockabilly, rock&roll, classic, hardrock, old school heavy rock, 80ties, 90ties grunge, metal, etc (not in that order...) but I can hardly imagine some new music coming up. It will be some new good music for sure, but what? any ideas?

My bet is that there is a new instrument invented that becomes the base of a new genre
-------------------- But still I want answers, what's the point, what does all this mean? |

It would be cool if a new revolutionary instrument was invented like Stevie said
But in general, I don't think that there's going to be a lot of "legends to be" bands like Zeppelin or Black Sabbath in the future that pretty much invented new kind of music. There's so much plagiarism in music these days that I just don't see that there is going to be a new and exciting genre of music. Just look at metalcore and what it is today, pretty much every band sounds the same in that genre. I really hope that new innovators will come though and introduce new elements to existing genres -------------------- Gear:

Well, seems to me that we all agree that rock era has finally coming to and end. But this doesn't mean the guitar as an instrument will become obsolete. I think guitar has something more to offer, what we will see.

I can start of by saying fact and then you can add some more facts that you think will be available and when we have enough facts we can then speculate - I think it is very possible that in 20 years we would be able to pack all today's gear sound in one small box, thus making this sound available everywhere. I think something revolutionary will happen , something that our brain now can not imagine now and in a lot of years to come...Who knows how we humans will evolve to and discover along the way..
I would not like to hear "humanless" music in the future.. (One that is not played by human rather by computer) -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net
