I was watchign a few videos where I could see the right hand and when they played it was like they picked with the movement or jerks of the thumb. Is this how your spossed to pick? becuase if so im way off, haha. Also could there be a lesson concerning this? thank you.

You must have seen a guitar-player playing with thumb-pick. Tommy Emmanuel for example uses such stuff. It's a pick that attaches to your thumb so you can use other fingers for fingerpicking.

Maybe you're watching regular picking but from thumb and not from wrist?

Haha! As I'm reading this thread, I'm saying to myself; hes thinking about Wallimann. Then I get to your link, and lo and behold, it is. I think thats just his unique style. I don't think he uses a thumb pick. Traditionally, you are taught to pick by using your wrist. Elbow very still (or nearly), and just the wrist. The reason, I think, is that you can develop the most fluid picking technique that way. Also I think its less stressful, allowing you to play longer (as I've been noticing in my own playing biggrin.gif ). Correct me if I'm wrong, and I don't want to be flamed for this, as I mean no disrespect, but I think with his style Wallimann is limited to the speed he can achieve.

I guess playing from wrist is most common and gives best results, speaking of tone as well.
