Here's a little pick trick to get up your accuracy and speed...
By now, you should notice that when you normally pick any string it oscillates/vibrates, making for a moving target the next time you pick it. This therefore is slowing you down and throwing off your correct playing position. First learn the correct feeling/position/movement to play, then add in additional steps to get it back into full correct playing.So rather than starting to play from your normal location to practice accuracy/speed in picking, try this exercise:
1) Move your pick to be flat near the very end of the bridge, say starting on the 3rd string. You'll find it doesn't vibrate as much here.
2) Using just the tip of the pick, cut through the string to the other side and stay right up next to that string (never move away).
3) Alternative pick the string up and down without the pick leaving the string, start slowly and pick up speed over time.
4) Your hand with speed will want to start to jump away from the string, stop this from occurring before it happens.
5) Make sure your thumb is straight/locked, pick isn't angled up or down, slight rotation from the wrist only, and no arm movement.
6) Bring the pick slowly up the string to it's normal picking location. Place the wrist on the bridge for gentle palm muting.
7) Continue alternative picking. Rotate the thumb to point downwards a bit.
Keep that same feeling going / small amount of wrist motion without any tension. If you fail this at any time, slow down or repeat the above steps.
8) Jump to the 4th string and continue. Then jump back again to the 3rd String.
9) Practice moving between two or more adjacent strings them without your pick jumping away from the strings.
10) Set your picking hand into a position where you can simply rotate from the wrist to reach all the strings as well as palm mute them without moving position. Your hand should be fixed and not have to move up or down.
If you fail this at any time, slow down or repeat the above steps.
11) Add a scale or simple fret board fingers exercise, while using the same picking technique. Sync both hands and build speed again.
