Some great advice from KIKO here on what to do when you start to lose motivation. We all have those days, when we just don’t feel like picking up the instrument. Despite the fact that we love playing guitar, sometimes, the magic just isn’t happening. What to do? There are as many answers as stars in the sky. I thought KIKO had a good suggestion. No matter how rough things get, you will probably get some juice from listening to some of your favorite music. It’s a great way to break through a motivation block as well. Put on some of your fave tunes, and pick up your guitar. Play along to your fave songs if you know them. If you don’t know them, try to casually pick bits up by ear, without hunting down tablature. Then maybe try to solo just a bit as the songs play. Playing with your fave music is a great way to get back in to the spirit. Well said kiko.

QUESTION: HOW DO YOU GUYS BREAK THROUGH A DROUGHT IN MOTIVATION?

Just don't force it, if you really don't feel like playing, do something completely different to your normal routine, maybe a fiddle on your midi keyboard if you have one, create some crazy sounds, have some fun doing it. Spend some unexpected time with your partner, kids, mom, dad etc, it might be some nice unexpected time to cherish.

It's good to have a break, especially if you're heart isn't into it at that moment and that very same heat will bring you back to the instrument you love when it's ready.

Success is not obtained overnight. It comes in instalments; you get a little bit today, a little bit tomorrow until the whole package is given out. The day you procrastinate, you lose that day's success.

Have kids, get a house. That way you'll want nothing more than to play.
