Hi Muris. I've decided to make small etudes from each lick I have troubles with, just to practise them and incorporate them into my playing. Now, the first etude (first lick) I had not problems with initially, until I realised I had to use my first three fingers only. So here's a little etude of that lick.

Sounds very nice!!

If I "hear" it correct some patterns are including pinky as well
but the idea came from using only 3 fingers so you did a good job. smile.gif

No I played them using first, middle and ring finger only. Just as a work out to prepare myself. I mean, if you play at your limit you're going to make more mistakes than if you push your limit a little bit higher, but play at the same level.

-edit- Your association is pretty fun to think about. It must mean that your relative pitch is so developed that you hear in fingerings biggrin.gif A major third gap is "always" played with pinky (if played on one string of course...), because of the lack of control when using the ringfinger.

-2nd edit- I just realized that I need to record on a lower volume, because the sound isn't as good as it should've been.

-3d edit- Dang, I really need to use less gain here and probably a little less drive.

It was played on one strings using index, middle and ring finger.

-edit- I just got that you got that and that you just wanted to confirm my thought.

Well, if you can't even torture yourself, how are you going to torture others?

No, I've got pretty big hands. I have no problem playing two steps at the fifth fret really and this was 12+... Just not used to it because I mostly use my pinky. I'm used to stretching my hands ya know. My piano teacher had me do it all the time and now I can play the root and the third an octave up on the piano (simoultanously with one hand). But it's good to be able to do something like that (much easier to do crazy Paul Gilbert licks then biggrin.gif)

Agree, stretching is good as long as you benefit from it. smile.gif
