GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Looking For A New Multieffects Processor

Posted by: coffeeman Mar 23 2013, 06:45 PM

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new multieffects processor, and so far I have checked the Line 6 HD 400 and the Line M13 Stompbox modeler. What do you think of those 2 and which other do you think I might consider.

Thanks for your help

Hi mate! I have two units by Line 6. I have Pod HD500 and DL4 Delay and I'm happy with them. The balance between quality, versatility and price is very good. The main difference between the two processors that you asked is that the HD400 include amp simulators and possibly less effect and M13 has effects but no amp simulators. If you are planning to use it only as a multifx combined with a good amp, you could go for the M13, if you want to connect it to your computer to use it for playing and recording demos, I would go for the HD.

so the question is what use would you give it?

Thanks for your tips Gabi, I think I'll use it for both recording at home and for rehearsals and stage(if we manage to get some gigs). I don't own an amp so when I go to the rehearsal rooms I always have a different tone. At home I use the line 6 toneport on my laptop, but it would be nice to have a new multieffects processor.

Which other brands and pedals should I look for, what do you recommend? I'm going to USA next week and I want to buy somehting cool for homerecording and practicing, and for band rehearsals and gigs.

Thanks gabi.

P.D did you listen to my latest composition? I uploaded on the practice room forum? It would be awesome if you could give me your opinion.

No, I missed your composition mate! I'll search for it.

So I think that you should go for Pod HD500, it has some more fxs and features than HD400 and there is not a big difference in price, even more if you are going to USA where these devices are cheaper than in our countries. Other unit very used are the Boss GT series (GT8, GT10). Both are at the same price range, then you have Kemper and Fractal Axe but these ones are more expensive.

Hey coffeeman -

I have the Boss GT-100 and I like it a lot. They have fine tuned the tone since the previous model -- the gt-10 and it's a great improvement.

You can get them in the US for $499 and probably cheaper. I would recommend listening to it to see what you think. I'm not sure what style of music you play but it has quite a range of programmable sound.

I don't use an amp either and wherever I go to play out I run straight to the PA and it sounds great to me.

Just my two cents.
Good luck on your search!

Thanks a lot mate, I play basically Rock, grunge, funk, and I like to experiment with clean sounds......That's exactly what I'm looking for a devive that I can use everywhere without buying an amp, I'll try it and compare it to the POD and make my mind. Thanks again.

I will second the HD500, it is a wonderful piece of equipment. I do however want to hear the GT-100 as I owned a GT-10 in the past. As for currently owning, I traded all that gear in for a real amp/cab. But! Needless to say I'm back to a modeler again. laugh.gif
