Hi guys. Being at GMC for something like a 6 months I have some thoughts like this one. I wonder why there is so small amount of takes to the 8-10 level lessons. I wonder how many of You just ain't got a possibility to make recordings and how many can master only a part of the lesson?

Could You share with us which of the highest level lessons You're working on currently? smile.gif

A really useful Etude but I'll not get it up to speed anywhere in the next 5 years! Still really useful though

I've done this lesson for the recent tapping challenge : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/thabus...xtreme_tapping/ . I haven't submitted it for REC however because I hadn't practiced it sufficiently and wanted to improve before submitting. But I haven't practiced it since then and don't know if I'll be able to play it even at that level sad.gif. Here's the video:

I've also been practicing this lesson for quite a while : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...soloing-lesson/ .

Unfortunately Im really not close to attempting lessons of those levels. I tend to operate in the 3-4 range with the occasional 5 if Im lucky with the technique used.

I practice one lesson that's 8. It's your metalcore lesson. But I don't have a guitar for drop tuning And I haven't quite gotten it to tempo. Yet. I was looking at your lessons, wanted to start one of your metalcore lessons at 6. But I didn't see any.

That was awesome man, keep going with it.
I haven't done anything higher than 7. I'm more of a rhyth guitarist than a lead guitarist so maybe you could do a rhythm lesson that is level 8 and I could have a go at it biggrin.gif

Most of the lessons I learn are between 5-7. I might try something in the 8 level range for the next one and lock myself in the guitar room for awhile. biggrin.gif

I'll be gleaning what I can from Ben's latest Paul Gilbert lesson. But as with lessons of this difficulty at my stage of speed, it won't be with a view of learning to play it perfectly, just to learn from it what I can at my present level

If I could do what you just did, I would be able to retire and say - I've met all my goals. At my rate, if arthritis doesn't get me first, I may have that by the time I'm 120 or so.

The highest level I've worked on is 6 - and I really should go back and continue with it. It was more difficult for me because I was using a baritone guitar, because that was what Cosmin was using, I may have a bit more success utilizing my drop tune pedal, but the speed of the changes met with immediate bends, was what ultimately frustrated me to go back to level 2.

In all honesty, I have not been practicing the lessons recently, though I know I should, but will eventually. Recently I've been more dedicated to working on my own stuff and attempting to define a style for myself - I know, I'm putting the cart before the horse; but I have to do the things that make it most enjoyable for me in order to stay motivated to continue to progress.

Plus, I have this strange disease that when I hit the record button, my fingers do everything except what they're supposed to do. I think what it is, is that I am more forgiving of myself when not recording, but when recording I want perfection, and when I think about it, I have NEVER played anything perfectly in my entire life, so perfection is not really even a goal of mine.

I tried a few of Muris' lessons in the past, as for me these sort of things are good technique builders - got close to 95% of Mojo Oro 1 and 2 and about the same with this one - https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...-legato-lesson/

I was practicing these last year and I had to move on to playing guitar and vocals as it is more important for what my goals as a musician right now - but, these were really fun to play nonetheless.

I practiced over 3-5 months every day but I just can't get the clean sounding picking. When I play slow, I can do it but at a faster speed I just keep missing notes.. Maybe you can give me some suggestions on how to improve this so I can start practicing other harder lessons.

For example, I have been doing the whole or part of Extreme Neoclassical for over 2 years now but I just can't do it. sad.gif

That's what I thought smile.gif Still I was very curious how many of You try to dig those lessons anyway and I see it is a huge group smile.gif

I think some of You are truly able to post the takes smile.gif Even if You think things aren't perfect smile.gif

Nimrandir - I think You did a really good job and You should post takes like this. I'm glad You did it in this topic smile.gif

Dave - I'll be working on some metalcore lesson at 5-6 level and I'm gonna make it in regular E tuning fore the educational purpose smile.gif

Opetholic - could You repost some of Your old takes in this topic ?biggrin.gif

Cosmin - Yep...Muris's stuff is crazy as hel. He's one of the guys who can use "10 level" in the lesson description with full responsibility smile.gif

Patrik - good idea! biggrin.gif Will make some heavy riffin lesson at this level....but...it's gonna be a "sololike" anyway ha ha biggrin.gif Just played on the low strings biggrin.gif

Posterbody - I think that 2 years of intense practise can give You that speed biggrin.gif You just have to focus on finding the way to execute it...more than just sitting and playing biggrin.gif

maharzan - I know what You mean. The day will come when You'll just play it smile.gif And it's gonna happen exactly because You're working on it now! smile.gifl

I also had this funny thought that lessons at higher level are more like for "borrowing" some licks and tricks or looking for "how he does this" biggrin.gif

Im in agreement with some others....i have only been playing 7 months or so, so most of that stuff is out of reach right now. But I like them being there. I like seeing there are these lessons waiting to be conquered eventually. It's something to shoot for.
