I guess time changes all things. The Shure sm7b has been a go to mic for studio and podcasting and just about everything in between for quite some time. It sounds great, very solid build, etc. The folks at SHURE have now made a new mic meant to serve the exploding podcast community specifically. This one has an app, of course, and USB C, of course, as well as XLR. So folks doing their production using a phone/tablet/etc. can now hook a very nice mic up and bam. Instant audio/video setup for recording. Works like a real mic too, XLR to interface/mixer/etc. I wonder how long it will take til every mic under the sun has optional digital connection as well as XLR just to keep it a viable product now that live music has taken such a severe down dive.
