Ill try to provide as much information as possible.

I just installed both EZ drummer AND Reaper.

Additionally, I am using a Line 6 UX2 with Pod Farm.

My goal is to have reaper play through my UX2's speakers.

Both EZ drummer and Pod Farm work fine and will play through my UX2's speakers.

However, when I record into Reaper, the play back is silent.

I suspect this is an I/O issue, but alas I am a total recording NOOBLET.

Sorry for the late reply.

And pre-thanks for any suggestions or solutions.

Sounds to me from your information that you need to set the sound preferences in Reaper (Options) to the ASIO driver and (drop) Copy or set the plugins directory (paramiter) to where the VST dll is.

Okay, I've done this;

Options -> Preferences -> Audio system = ASIO -> ASIO driver = ASIO-UX2

However, when i save this i get an error.

Error = Error initiating ASIO driver.

What am I doing incorrectly?

From your reply, I woud guess that your UX2 was not installed corectly.

Unplug the device, uninstallt the software, reboot, download and install the latest software, plugin the device only when it ask's you to and then when it's finished reboot again.

You should be good to go then smile.gif

EDIT: Don't forget about pointing Reaper to the plugins directory where you installed EZDrummer

I'm about 99.9999% sure I installed the UX2 correctly, I specifically remember plugging it in when it asked me to.

I believe my problem has something to do with this VST plugin nonsence.

How would I direct Reaper to my EZ drummer directory?

It is possible that there is another application using ASIO driver. Try to close all audio applications you have running, if there are some. Close POD Farm, and close EZdrumme standalone version, or any software modeler. Then try to choose ASIO driver as your primary driver in Reaper.

In order to hear playback of anything from reaper you need to set your UX2 as primary asio driver (sound card for playback) in Reaper's settings. It won't work any other way. But if it reports error, try to close all other apps that may be using the driver...

Pardon my reaper illiteracy, but i don't know how to set ASIO settings.

Also, I think their is a bit of confusion.

I CAN record guitar, bass, vocals, anything really, and have it play back successfully.

I CANNOT have ez drummer's grooves play back.

The problem is isolated solely to Ez Drummer.

I've changed the VST plugin directory to the Toontrack home folder.

But, that didn't work,

I'd really love some noob-proof ideas, considering im about as new as you can get with digital records (i've been using riff works ).

And once again, thanks for the suggestions so far and pre-thanks fro any future replies.

Can you open EZDrummer inside Reaper?

1. Right click on the track field
2. choose "Insert virtual instrument on new track"
3. choose EZD as instrument
4. turn on record monitoring

does this work?

This sounds to me like the Reaper can't find the EzDrummer DLL file, or that the EzDrummer wasn't installed correctly. Is "ezdrummer.dll" in your VST plugins folder? Can you load the Ezdrummer into Reaper at all? Or is it just the playback? If it's just the playback, check if you have accidentally muted the track where Ezdrummer should play.
