Hi guys! Welcome to my new collaboration called "Modern Rock Collab". This track is a side b by my band Cirse that we never released. I was checking those demos and I noticed that this one was a really cool backing to jam.
Hi man ! I hope I'll get my computer back from the service/repairing next week and be able record my take. I jammed today with the backing track from iPhone and put notes on paper. Then I played through my 15 watt amp and used 2 iPhones to record. (one played bt and other recorded my guitar ).

HI, after messing around a few times with the backing track i've manage to do this:
With Backing tracK: http://soundcloud.com/jorge-fern-ndez/modern-rock-collab-with
I'm not Gary Moore but hey, it's my first collab

Hello everyone !
I forgot the make a record with and without backing track ! Ok, here now a new one with both of them.
This is not final at all. Since I deleted the actual wave/project because I feel it can be done better for myself considering I have a few weeks till you need a copy. But this is what I've come up with so far.

I'd really like to make my own stuff at last but I have NO ideas where to start from, I have NO theory knowledge, I'm NOT a shred player and I've NEVER manage to create any good licks or rhythm stuff...
The last time I tryed to play a collab (that was with Ramiro) I abandonned because nothing interesting came to my mind :s

Hi mate! I can help you! What about starting a thread at my personal board where I show you which scales you can use and you start posting demos and ideas... ?
wou! the German guy is early for this one!! Thanks mate!

Great!! Thanks for your take mate!
Why hateful?? lack of inspiration or just technique issues?
My fingers hated it. I just rolled out of bed all my fingers said was "Dude really I don't want to play this type of riff right now just go back to bed!"
Other than that I'm proud of myself. I never play like that, it's like everything clicked.

Two days to close this one guys!!
I'm not sure how to do this guys... never done a collab and I guess it's just playing to a backing track? I didn't do any homework just listened to the track and played something. Hope it makes it to this forum. That's what I'm not sure of. So I've done a file upload and a link to sound cloud. We'll see what happens.... BTW... Cool job guys. Nice GITARRIN!!

WOW, and I probably shoulda listened to that crap before I posted it out there. Sorry guys. I'll maybe do better next time... Oh well I'm not happy with it, but it's out there. I can jam for three hours and half like what I play, I record for 30 seconds and bloody hate it.

Well I'm pretty much angry My computer is having issues, so I can't record a real take for this collab. I went ahead and recorded my idea for the solo on my iphone, so forgive the quality. high e'string is a little out of tune due to some heavy bending in previous takes - 3 in a row, then trimmed this one down. Hopefully I'll have a computer by 2013...

Gabe, I'm going to have to drop out I'm afraid. Have installed Sonar and am having a few problems setting it up with my Interface.
I'm determined to get it sorted over the weekend so I'll be in for the next one for sure!!
Posted by: Christophe Oct 5 2012, 10:18 PM
Oops godamn ! My guitar had some problems (D string broken) and some other problems (harmonics, floyd, string attack, and pickup switch button) I'll get back my guitar tomorrow the 6th at 7 pm.
Am I still okay if I drop my A minor Pentatonic session tomorrow ?

Here's my attempt, sorry for being that late !! I'm always tired to post something I guess it is bad.
I used A pentatonic minor and A minor scales.
The 1st video is without backing track, there are some issues as asual but the whole is correct I think. The 2nd is with backing track.
Sorry again for the sound volume :S I made this really fast to post it today.

Hey Christophe! Thanks a lot for you take! Could you please post both audios in mp3 or wav format?
Hey guys! These days have been a bit crazy because of some Cirse's stuff (Videoclip and Ep's last details) but I will be mixing this one later today. Sorry for the delay!

Hello guys!! This is the final mix and comments for the Modern Rock Collab. I want to say thanks to all the guys that joined this one and also the ones that wanted to join and couldn't for different reasons.
Bleez: Your take is really nice. I enjoyed your phrasing a lot, every section sound very tasty and the only weird moment is at 00:47 where you play something a bit out of scale. The other sections are beautiful. Your tone fits perfectly with the backing. Well done!
Christophe: Hi mate! The first thing that comes to mind when I hear your take (and also when I saw the file in the daw) is that we have to review your audio recording settings. Your tone should be clearer and the audio signal should be higher. Regarding your playing, the take sounds good, everything is in scale and the next thing to master is making your solo evolve in a better way. You repeat similar rhythms and phrases many times but it seems that you are playing scales instead of melodies. Try to create melodies first in your mind and then transpose them into your guitar and maybe you will get what I mean. Is it clear? Let’s talk about all this things! Please contact me. Thanks for your take!
Dieterle: Hi mate! Thanks for joining this one! I can see an improvement in your playing compared to previous entries. You still need to work more on your ideas to make the overall solo more defined but you are on the right track. Everything sounds in scale and you tone is great! Keep on rocking.
Gitarrero: Hi German guys!! I have to say that now the word Gitarrero is synonymous of hard work and great quality! Your tone is fantastic (maybe you could add a bit of presence or treble) and your solo, is not your best one but it works cool over the backing. Thanks for joining this one! Keep on rocking GMC.
Spasemonkey: Hi mate! You solo is shorter but killer! You played a great solo over the chorus of this song. I enjoyed each lick as well as your technique and tone. I have nothing to say but congrats and thanks for rocking this track.
WeePee: Hi friend! Let me say that your playing is tasty and fresh at the same time. Every lick sounds new to me but also fits perfect over the backing. I enjoyed listening to it a lot. It’s fantastic, excepting the last rocker lick that sounds very out of scale, re.check it! Thanks for joining.
Nether: Is John Frusciante featured on this one??? I really liked the tone that you used to solo over this take. I think that the feeling of your phrasing is good but you have to pay attention to your bending pitches and also to some notes that sound out of scale on this one. If you fix those notes that don’t sound good your solo could be a top quality one... now the question is... do you note which notes aren't sounding ok over the backing?

Thanks Gabe !!
I have to admit that this last lick bothered me too!! But I was too lazy to correct it and I was one week in Spain after recording it.
I'm looking forward to your next Collab !! All these recent backing tracks has been very interesting and really great !!

Yes my recording stuff is an old iPhone 3GS (almost totally dead) and when I recorded I was in a hurry to make something to give you, because I didn't want again to say I'm in and then I don't post anything, it'd mean that I haven't done anything which is absolutely false, I've spent several hours working my A minor Pentatonic.
I can't get off that 4th/8th notes, I don't know why. I find this very hard to make melodies with a simple key (Am) and a simple box (Am Pentatonic 5-7), I watched Pentatonic solo lesson from Marcus and I learnt the half of it to find some inspiration about rhythm which I find very particular in this lesson.
I hope I'll get something good next time
Thanks for your feedback I really value it
NB : (That's ridiculous but I'm quite happy with my little burst near the end, it sounds pro ahahah )
PS : I don't use my Zoom G2.1Nu to record because the sound I hear when I'm playing and the sound I get with the recording isn't the same at all (the sound recorded has often twice as much distorsion), so it's very annoying to obtain something I like.

ahh ok! now I understand the sound issue! Regarding your phrasing, I think that learning melodic lessons that use A pentatonic minor could be a good idea. You have to incorporate more licks and solo ideas into your guitar vocabulary... it's just a matter of time. Don't worry and keep on working. Joining Collabs is also the way to go... you will keep your mind working and your training your creativity....
also... thanks everybody for the comments and for joining!

I'm glad to be featured in the 2nd position ahah, and also that so many persons listen to me (between others xd). There are many awesome takes, it was very pleasant to hear
I recommend everyone to participate to at least one collab, this is a great thing to live, and it does encourage you to work harder and harder !
