I'm an absolute beginner on guitar, i havent played since I was a kid, I havent got any training, I dont hang out with musicians BUT I love music and I want to learn to play. The problem is that I dont seem to find the right lessons to make it happen. Maybe I am not that good in navigating on this site but I dont seem to get anywhere with the beginners lessons. I had to go to youtube to find lessons more suitible for my skills. Just how to hold the pick was a struggle in the beginning, and to get the right feel in strumming. I get that it takes a lot of practice and maybe I am to inpatient listening to guitarmasters on my ipod every day. Is there any special songs that is suitable to begin with? I need to hear that my playing is making a melody not just "pling plong" if you get what I mean
I would love to get some feedback

I think the hardest is to get started, so here's where you need patience the most,
Be very flexible, now that you really know any technique you are in a position where it is ok to change the way you play every time you grab the guitar, imitate what the instructors are doing, and your favorite guitar players, pay attention at their motions and the position of the guitar
At the very start, it can be a reall struggle. Try picking up some rythm parts for songs you like. You can find tablature for just about anything on the web. Try to keep it simple and be patient
Hi,
I recommend every lesson from Bear Rose , I just started to with guitar and I am working still on lesson 1 Open chords, but I feel that I make progress. I know it can be frustrating in the beginning, but just repeat the lessons slowly ( I mean really SLOW) and you will make progress soon.

Start by finding tablature on the web or in books of some songs you have heard a lot and know well to try to play. Some might be too hard in the beginning but keep looking until you find one that's doable. Each song you learn helps you improve so keep doing it.
I'll just throw in a quick tip since the other guys covered alot of ground in their answers.
My tip is actually a software which tells you in a fools proof way how to play/learn a song(Which I guess is your main goal right now.)
It is called Guitar Pro and is a great tool used by an enormous amount of musicians. I found this program 8 years ago and it is probably one of the main building blocks that got my guitar playing on track. I wound recommend the 5.0 Version if you are using Windows, since the 5.2 seems to crash after soaking up all of your ram, and the latest software 6.0 is just horrible in my opinion.
Hey man! I would recommend all of Andrew Cockburn and Bear Rose's lessons! I think they can put you on the right track!

Definitely check out Andrew's lessons, and after that, you can start with Bear Rose Series. These two should be you started. After you go through chords, try my Pentatonic Workshop Series.
Ok Here you go.. I've scanned some tabs for you that are really easy and included the backing tracks, I've Scanned 12 Bar Blues,Apache ,Country Roads, Wonderfull Tonite and Walk don't run
