Hey,
i have a problem with my epiphone les paul custom. im trying to learn the https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Ballad-and-Blues-II/ lesson. but the sustain from my guitar sucks. if i bend a full step in the 15 fret on the higher e string it sounds like a joke. i've recorded it. its no matter if im playing with the bridge or the neck pick-up. its so annoying  i cant feel the blues without a great sustain. thanks, people! |

Stuff you can try yourself.
I would raise the action a hair bit see if it helps. Because like Nihilist1 is pointing out if say the 18th fret is a tad higher then when you bend it actually dampens the sound and will cause it to cut the sustain short. If you have a capo put it on the 22nd fret lock it down, then take your finger and press down on either E string. Look down the neck to around frets 7-9, is there a gap? Does it bow towards the strings or even away? If its drastic you will need to have the truss rod adjusted. If its just a hair different then I wouldn't worry about it. If you take it to a luthier ask them about maybe having it setup and see if it needs a fret level and then to polishing the frets as well. That will make all the frets equal height and with the polishing it will make them not only shinny but make it smoother to bend. -------------------- Guitars:

What sort of gear setup are you using Manuh ?
I've often found that digital fx type distortion is weak when it comes to sustain. |
