Hey. I will buy a new microphone (AKG C5) and now I will need phantom power. In the store, the guy suggested me to buy a voice preamp instead of simply a phantom power source.
I know a preamp makes the voice sound more powerful, so I probably go that way. So, any tips of cheap voice preamp? -------------------- my "Thank you GMC!" video

A cheap pre is very likely to colour the vocal sound. This coloration may either be good or bad for your vocal so I would recommend that you try some our with you mic to see what works best for you. The store should let you try out a number of preamps .

Gus I wanted to ask you what interface do you use? If you already have mic preamp built in, you may not need mic preamp, only the power source.

What's the budget man? Really cheap. Basically I don't want to have a useless condenser mic. Gus I wanted to ask you what interface do you use? If you already have mic preamp built in, you may not need mic preamp, only the power source. I use the POD x3 live for recordings. The other use I intend is to play in small venues (just acoustic guitar and voice) and probably I will not take the POD . So that's one extra reason I was considering getting the preamp. There's not much of a choice really.. There are couple of ART Tube preamps that are really entry level, but I haven't tested them out. Another thing to try is possibly MIC100 from behringer, although the sound is not that great, but it serves the purpose. One that you should stay away from is Behringer MIC800, it is really a bad preamp.
The preamp that I would recommend is M-Audio Audio Buddy. It's a two channel solid state preamp, so it is more transparent than the entry levels mentioned above (that pretend to be tube preamps). -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE
