Hi all!
Since I've been fooling around with a glass slide for a couple of days now in regular tuning, I will ask all slide-prophets here around what tunings are most common and with key's do they apply to???

I'm no slide player man, but I would think open G tuning would be cool for that kind of stuff.

I tried with open D tuning when I first wanted to learn, but later I found out that standard E tuning works best for me. Although open D may seem easier at first, I think in the long run it is better to get used to standard one. You can play pretty much everything with standard as you would with open D or open G (with some additional effort), but also with standard you can do some more interesting stuff, since this tuning is more natural to you.

Hmmm, I will You right in that.... It makes some sense to me, since what I actually will do is to use the slide mostly for solo parts rather than comping stuff, I'll guess I have to study this a little and take some of my guitars and put some high action on it in order to make the notes clean...

Yeah, a bit higher action can help, but you can play with moderate action if you have on some guitar. It may seem hard in beginning, but it's all about the touch. If the touch is light, there's no need for adjusting the guitar at all (with moderate action).

Well, oki, then I dont have to do anything at all, since all my guitars have at least moderate action for preserving the tone...

I like when they are fighting back, hehe....
