Holy fudge, Muris!
I have some friends over, and everyone was doing their own stuff, making lots of noise and such... When I put this on, there was nothing but your playing that filled the air Everyone stopped in their steps to watch.
When the shredding was over, I looked around and everyone had their mouths hanging open, still staring at the screen
Such an awesome sight =)
Edit: Two of them is gonna start playing guitar, thanks to you ^^

Those are two 7th chords actually,C7 and B7
or Ab7 and A7 cause I was tuned whole tone down.
And I play them without 5th tho,
root is on low E,7th on D and third on G string.
Thanks for support guys!!!!!

I was thinking about entering, and was preparing something, now I'm thinking I shouldn't, your shred skills are amazing, and that solo would be hard to top. I should go practice, you have raised the bar for this competition

your video made my head explode. wow... im not worthy!
We are ALL worthy!!
Here's the fact,
at early beginning I was practicing a lot,
manly cause I had nothing else to do,war time etc,
so it was like 6-7 hours per day.
Then I became kind a lazy when I joined some bands
and local pop-rock star "on stage" bends,
had real lacking of practicing.
But then I got internet connection to my apartment like 2 years ago
and there was Youtube, unlimited source for inspiration!!
So just find something you like and gives you the boost,
have fun while practicing and results must be there.

Spot on,GMC has a great role in voting system and I'm thankful as always!!
But there is jury for every contest which gives us all fair trial.

The "problem" is that he has tens of thousands fans on YouTube that automaticly votes for him the seconds he asks them to.. Not ment as a shot towards Mattrach since I think he's awesome to be that young, but he's a bit overrated
Posted by: Joe Kataldo Aug 16 2008, 12:28 PM
For sure GMC give us some boost, but in the end there is a jury...fantastic picking techniques Jose!

What I play is a pattern in 16th notes with alternate picking, I was thinking to create a lesson on some parts of this solo, and explain how I hold the pick and stuff like that.
What do you guys think?

had a chance to browse through a lot of the other ones there and have to say that shred isnt what it used to be!lol
In fact it looks like its dying, mortaly wounded by scaler playing, all or nothing timing, lack of dynamics and tone deaf
melody!I could type more expressions to convey the lack of musical understanding shown there but I might wear out
my keyboard here!
I noticed this in the early days of Youtube where every one and their granny had a webcam and a guitar
They all seem to want to able to run before they can walk?
Anyway, checked out the above teachers here and you all played as it should have been.Thank you for actualy playing great solos and making that trip to that website not a complete waste of time

I agree perfectly, many of them wants to run before learn how to walk, and you can hear all their floppy attempt, bad timing, ugly tone, no sense playing, what worries me is that some of them get a an higher rank too!

Yea, just looking at the high ranking players pissed me off. They're all doing the same things, sweeping, speed picking, some legato, tapping+legato, soooo boring, no creativity, no sense of music.
But great job to the GMC dudes, you all did a great job at making music with impressive chops, 11 for all of you!

Voted 11 for everybody again. But I think your great contributions are totally wasted in this competition. Most of the high ranking players may be really fast but they all bored me to death. I'm proud that the GMC instructurs stand out so much with original and creative contributions and tasty playing. The same was true for this native competition. A shame that they canceled the voting there.
Posted by: ParalyzedHorse Nov 4 2008, 05:42 PM

I agree, most of the other entries are pretty bad. Just random shredding but I have no idea what notes they're playing...basically sounds like buzz to me.
To be honest the best entries are coming from GMC

And they don't even play to a BT. I was blown away by Muris's and David's ideas, cause they did a really nice composition too... People just show off with their schoolbook exercises, random tapping (not with 8 fingers tho
), some sweeping...
but fellow GMC members will not pass out just because they see someone using both hands messing on the fingerboard... we have seen much MORE on GMC...
