There isn't one local that I can try out. I LOVED the Princeton, but it was expensive. I was wondering how the Blues Jr. sounded when compared to the Princeton.
Nobody can tell you how YOU would find the diffrence between them...
Zakk is certainly right, however given only the fact that the tubes inside the amp are quite different (EL84s in the Fender Blues Jr and 6V6s in the Princeton), will certainly have an effect on the sound.
I really like the sound of the Fender Blues one, but in the end I went for the HotRod Deluxe instead (which has 6L6 tubes).
The twin is an absolute classic, but they are also twice the price of the Jnr. I tried a blues deluxe re-issue and that was a beautiful sounding amp but very, very loud at 40 watts of tube tone! These amps are notorious for having a great clean sound but a distinctly average drive channel so bear that in mind when it comes to what you want to get out of them.
Blues Jr. deffinately sounds awsome.
However, alot of them have a few problems from their birth.
One of them is the lack of a standby switch.
These are of course problems that can be solved by an amp engineer.
Just keep it in mind, that if you want to make it a great amp, you will have to offer a few more bucks..
I have a blues junior and think it's an incredible amp for recording and even practicing. With the master down you can crank up the volume dial and get a nice breakup at bedroom volume. I like it's sound when paired with high output pups . You get a nice chimey and percussive clean. The fat switch and a fully cranked volume dial make this little baby sing. Ok amp also for gigs in small clubs when the drummer holds back a little.
Blackfaces are amazing. Personally, I'd save for the princeton, I was gassing after a deluxe reverb (a step up from the princeton) for a long while. The only thing that put a hold to it was me buying a mesa f-30 with el84 tubes (like the blues junior). The blues is a very good amp too though, especially the tweed one with a better speaker.
If you have some extra bucks lying around get yourself the egnater rebel 20 halfstack http://www.egnateramps.com/Rebel20.html or wait another month for the egnater rebel 30 combo http://www.egnateramps.com/Rebel30112.html. They have both 6V6 and EL84s in the signal chain. You can either chose one of the two tube setups or mix/blend them. These babys give you everything from fender to mesa and back.
