Hey guys!
I was searching through the German Ebay, looking for some guitars when I stumbled across this one:
http://cgi.ebay.de/E-Gitarre-Gibson_W0QQitemZ130307508197QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGitarren?hash=item1e56eec7e5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1229|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A3|294%3A50
The article says that she inherited this guitar and does not know anything about it besides it being a Gibson. I thought I might get a steal on a over 3k Gibson Zakk Wylde sig and asked the seller for more pictures (for me to make sure it's the real deal) because she said that it didn't come with a case which made me suspicious...
The pictures arrived and I took a closer look:
The headstock seems legit but I noticed the truss rod cover saying *Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom* while the original ones just say *Les Paul Custom*. Mmh...
The pickups are wrong (EMG HZ while the original has active EMG) and looking at the neck I noticed that the fretboard is Rosewood but the Original has Ebony!
The back looks alright
The back of the headstock is where it gets ugly: First of all those are no name tuners while the original has Grover tuners. There is the Gibson logo, a *made in the USA* stamp, a serial number, the Zakk silouette logo and even an autograph by zakkk himself so it seems...
BUT comparing it to a real one (took some pictures of a real one at my local store) I see that logo and silhouette are at the wrong places and that Zakk models have a special 3-digit serial number while this one has a regular serial.
What really pisses me of is that they even faked Zakks autograph on the back -.-
That´s sick. Why do people such horrible things with guitars? Is there any possibility to report it at eBay?
Really nasty! Good think you know how a real one should look like.
Just a suggestion , that you inform the seller it's fake. See what happens...
At least they made some obvious mistakes, had they used the same materials and not misplaced the sig they could easily fool someone, at least until the buyer got the thing in his hands...
Sad
Trussrod cover totally gives it away, a very clumpsy and fat cover I must say
I really hate stuff like that, especially because I DON'T know any better. Hrmph! Nice spot!
I saw once a seller that was selling an Ibanez Jem, don't remember exactly the model. It wasn't the cheapest price, but it was reasonable less from the original price. A friend of mine went to see it, and the seller himself told him that it was a chinese Ibanez Gio, that a Luthier worked on it a made it a replic!!. Nice cheat, isn't it?. Jajaja. I just can't believe how stupid people can be
Probably you can ask for Gibson support if the registration number is real for this model.
(That what I did at -PaulReedSmith customer support- , when i bought my PRS on Ebay.)
If it is fake ask the seller to drop it from ebay if not you can report fake at the ebay organisation.
If it fake but she doesn't draw back this buy we all can email her
This obviously seems to be a fake guitar, but reading the short description on ebay gives the impression that the seller has no clue about guitars.
"... on the guitar is written Gibson. A friend told her it's a known brand ... the guitar is black and white" ..
I don't think the seller has bad intentions with this offer, otherwise she would not easily say to send more pictures by request. She just don't know the details. Too bad that guitars like this exist in the first place ..
I hate cheats! At least report it to the seller and ebay, then if there is legal action later...
The nut looks like a cheap plastic Epiphone one to me, and the gold hardware also looks cheap. It´s probably an Epi with a bad makeover.
Amateurs
There are so many fake gibsons, even a lot of fake epiphones which to me is totally ridiculous :/
Glad you got more pictures before making the purchase
This one definitely seems to be a fake. The originl is a killer guitar though.
