Hey Adrian, I just ordered the DiMarzio Chopper to put in the bridge position of my Strat, and was looking to get some ideas how to wire it. I'm debating if I should go through the trouble of installing a coil tap. I like the tone you get out of yours, do you have a coil tap on it?

hey dude, i dont have a coil tap on my chopper, but i'm going to get one pretty soon, i have split coils on my signature model, and it's CRAZY, i love it !

Yeah I was thinking of installing a push/push coil tap, just because the Strat knobs would be kinda hard to get your finger tips under and pull if I were to use a push/pull unit. The only place I found it is at Warmoth.com, I think they're about $16.

By the way, that chopper you got in yours sounds very Stratty even without the coil tap, I wonder if it'll be necessary to change it.

If I may give my experience on this one: In general, Strat gets his twang from the design itself, so no matter what pickup you put (single, humbucker in single format, or full humbucker), it will inherit some of the twang character. Be prepared for it, specially for single-format hums. Personally I find that great, gotta love the twang

Thats exactly what I want Ivan, just a beefy Strat twang that doesn't hum with a lot of gain. I was gonna put a full size humbucker in the bridge but realized it doesn't have as much twang as the single coil sized equivalent like the chopper. The chopper probably doesn't have as much beef as a full size humbucker, but hey, gotta compromise somewhere

that's right guys, but go for the split coil man, i totally recommend it, it's like having a different guitar
if you dont want push pull, install a small mini ON/ON miniswitch and you are golden
