I believe that the tab is wrong. I fiddled around with that all on bars with the E and A string it doesn't sound right itself. I also believe Nickelback is in C and Drop C for most songs. I'm going to go grab the old dusty acoustic give this a shot and record it to see if it sounds right to you. It's been awhile since I've sat down and listened to Nickelback.

Yer sorry it is in dropped C, Tuning like this CGCFAD
I believe the tab is correct, i've seen several versions that are all wrong, plus this tab seems to match up with the live version. even the tone sounds same to my ears when i learnt first bars upto the strumming, even when playing to the original track

call me dumb but i cant work the pattern out, i looked on youtube first for the pattern and did see that video, ill download it and slow it down

That's my take of it with D D D D U. I also used the Savin Me single version that was all acoustic as well.

To me it sounds all down strokes he is just grooving very well
Try to play with him and match guitar exactly as it's on the record!

My last thinking I have heard this song way to much today! laugh.gif

D U D D U because the last 2 almost sound as if you could do a pick rake on it.

Judging by that YT link from WeePee and the tab (and natural momentum of your hand) I would go for D D D D U without a doubt smile.gif

The last D and U is twice the speed of the main down strokes. So it's like 3 quarter notes and 2 8th notes.
