Using A Metronome, how to?

If not using a metronome, what do you use? Let us know in what way you change the tempos while practicing? Do you have a method for that, or just pick random? Here's an approach I love: - Tap your foot on the ground and come up with a short vamp (maximum 2 chords) - Come up with all sorts of short licks when finishing the phrases and when starting them and then try to get back into the vamp The idea is to groove around the vamp you created, managing to hold on to the beat and improvise in the same time Hope this makes sense, but I am sure it's gonna do a LOT of good You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. If I do practice with a time keeper, it's usually along with a drum track. Most of the time I am practicing a GMC lesson using the backing track. I download it and load it up in Reaper and change the bmps if needed. I also play along with the instructor to make sure my attack is right. And when I'm composing I use drum patterns anyway. Oct 31 2011, 04:15 PM	Learning Tone Master Posts: 3.622 Joined: 29-March 08 From: kansas, USA	everyday I start my warmup with it at 80bpm's - four notes per beat and have it set up for a click at every note I am trying to get rid of some bad habits of learning wrong and with a click with triplets that gave me an accent that would always throw my timing off(when I switch strings) when doing triplets, three notes per strings. From my experiance you should set a metronome with out accents and the same click every note so that you don't develope any accents until your timing is developedl I don't think a metronome is necessary once you have established perfect time but until then ,I think they are very important You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick.
