GMC Forum _ Bands and Guitarists _ Albums Most People Seem To Dislike Or Hate, But You Love.

Thought this would be an interesting topic. I find myself to like and/ or love quite a few albums that the general populace seem to think are utter crap or just suck. So my question is, Anyone have any of these albums laying around on there CD rack or Hard drives?
Most notably, albums I like that seem to get shunned are Trivium's "Crusade", I love it. and Dissection's Reinkaos, While not as good as there albums before it, It still is a fantastic album from start to finish I think.

Id have to say that as well, I know there are alot of Coheed fans, But I here more people talking bad about them than good, And I love all of them.

Still just can't get into Metallica's current material. I had high hope's for this cd 
Still I hear many say they love it.
One band comes to mind that I like that most of my freinds dislike....

everyone hates my Shogun Album from Trivium but that band pwns and all my august burns red albums
maybe its because i live in a white collar communty even though we r ass broke haha
i love driving my guitar blasting dethklok while driving by some of those type of people their expessions are hilarious

Any CD from Devildriver - I really like them but my elitist metal heads make fun of me because the singer from Devildriver used to be in Coalchamber!

Hehe you could better ask what music my friends do like ? 
Then I could say Amon Amarth, Dethklok, Dream Theater and uuuuh....
But the music they hate the most is probably some nice raw black metal, I really dig Ulver's and Forgotten Woods stuff but never met anyone else who likes them They also really hate Necrophagist and Dying Fetus.... But I just stopped asking for their opinion cause I dont really care what they think of the music that I like

Ugh not much actually. I have awesome taste so nobody can diss anything i like 
But seriously, I don't really know that much, one of my friends diss me for liking Mastodon and Rage Against the Machine, but that's probably it. Allthough I can't say most people seem to dislike them, since both bands are huge.

One Album most people -especially the critics- didn't like was Venus Isle by Eric Johnson.
It's personally one of my favorites

Cool topic. You know it happens something different to me about this. I usually like bands that still didn't arrived to Argentina (Usually thanks to GMC), and when I show them to my friend they don't like them... however, after some month they get back saying that now they like it (I have heard comments like "what strange things that Gaby listens to..." ) I remember that it happened with Muse, Alter Bridge, Paramore, Bullet for my Valentine and many others.
And talking about the topic.. I could name "Chinese Democracy"... I can't understand how so many people here in my country dislike that great album. 
Even Luciana, my band's singer...

We should say why we like them so this doesn't turn into a list thread.
I think for the most part, Smile by Boris seems to be hated by many people since it has that sell-out sound to it. For the most part, its pretty easy to digest and listen to because of sludge punk rendition ala Pink. I like it though because I liked Pink, and for the most part, I've never hated any Boris/BORIS release. I love how this album gets mellow as the album progresses, and that doomy drone song at the end is masterfully done.

I'm not crazy about them... I seen them in concert once waiting for Megadeth to hit the stage haha.

Michael Amott kick***! I love his solos very much, btw he plays on 11-59 gauge Solo on Burning Angel was epic, also Ravenous, Shadow of Dust etc etc:) I like his playing because he knows where to shred and where to stay slow and melodic, IMHO he owns Alexi Laiho
p.s.- Guitars sounds soo powerful in every song, and they don`t use EMG.

I agree! I love the way he mixes fast shredding with slow parts, all with a bluesy feeling.
Didn't know about the gauge but I will be sure to pick that up and try it out! ( like that will actually help me....
)I'm not sure was guitars they use in the studio vs live but I know that he got a ESP Ninja and a Gibson Les Paul when playing live and a RANDALL Rig. Not that important I guess but being the guitar nerd that I am I love reading about favorite players equipment

I'd go for Chinese Democracy. In the moment all the world seems to hate this album, maybe I like it because I have never been a Guns'n'Roses fan and had no real expectations in this album

For some reason most Helloween fans seems to really dislike the Pink Bubbles Go Ape and Chameleon albums.. but i love them!
Edit: Also, i got a fascination for everything Mike Patton is doing, even if it's just an album worth of screaming alone.

Seriously that song is amazing. The dance moves he has are just incredible.
There's no album/band I like that everyone seems to hate but anyone who liked Triviums latest albums are FOOLS. Ascendancy was actually really good then they just went and sounded like Metallica who have NEVER released anything worthy of mentioning, and I mean never.

Anyway, Another one I thought of is Porcupine Tree, Aside from the fellow fans on GMC, Ive never met anyone who likes them, and they always say there too mellow or boring, But I find there music to be just great, Especially Fear Of A Blanket.

Yeah Fear of a Blanket is really underrated compared to Fear of a Blank Planet, I agree.

lots of people live my life here.. everyone hates my Coheed and Cambria Albums. Schizo Deluxe by Annihilator i absolutely love there was this band called Goat Horn who had an album called Storming The Gates and i loved it. Alot of my friends don't like Advance and Vanquish or Fire up the Blades but 3 inches of blood is a must. Other than that there are a few br()()tal albums i like that none of my metal friends can stand.. Perverse Recollections of A Necromangler by waking the cadaver is my favorite grindcore album, Descendants Of Depravity by Prostitute Disfigurement is extremely technical, Apocalyptic Feasting by Brain Drill, Mechanics Of Dysfunction by beneath the massacre, and 10 000 fists by disturbed... my list in a nut shell of albums i like and others seem to hate ALSO

Most people I know (at least in the metal community) found Brain Drill to be quite accessible, Even if it be in the comedic or jokingly sense. Either way, Apocalyptic Feasting is just brutal
And one more I've thought of is Deathspell Omega, I just can't get most of my friends, Even my metal head ones into them no matter what.

I have some friends like that aswell, but they are still one of the most respected metal bands out there right now generally speaking, so I still don't think they are generally disliked.

i like Metallica - my mom and my dad hate them which can be quite a problem when blasting whiplash out really loud:)

an album that comes to mind is "Dynasty" from Kiss, a lot of people seem to hate that record but I think its great
