GMC Forum _ Bands and Guitarists _ 40 Years This August Since Woodstock

Actually LIan's Irish folk music thread made me think of this, because the fast strumming made me think of Richie Havens.

"In 1969, Havens opened the Woodstock Festival, although he was initially scheduled to appear fifth on the bill. His performance received continuous ovations and he kept playing encores until he ran out of songs. Finally, he decided to improvise a version of "Motherless Child," to which he added a verse with the word "freedom" repeated over and over"

One of the most important moment in modern music history. Also, it was my first live show I've recorded from TV with my old video-tape recorder biggrin.gif
Thanks for remembering this fkalich.

If I could choose one time to go back with a time machine, I'd go to Woodstock!

My friend Mick, who I work for at some Festivals, was there!!! It's how he got into the Record Business in the first place!!! I also met Ritchie at the WOMAD 5 years ago, he's a very personable and humble man!!!
