I decided not to sell my Fender Deluxe 5 string banjo this week after getting insulting offers for it.

I thought that once I'm recording I can probably put it to use, so I found my teach yourself Banjo book and started at the beginning last night.

I'm a fairly decent fingerstyle guitar player but boy does the banjo really require some dexterity and robot like muscle memory of the right hand.

One thing that will help me this time round is GMC has really shown me how to practice, to take things slowly and not rush ahead until things are locked in at slower speeds.

So now when I get frustrated or at the point of diminishing returns in my guitar practice I'll be switching to the banjo.

Look out for posts from me about dating my sister!

I used it on one track about 6 years ago for a really simple accompanyment on a song I wrote.

Now I'm going to try and learn it properly, but I'm a true beginner, getting used to playing with fingerpicks is weird as is the high G string.

I'm a member of a couple banjo forums from when I first attempted to learn. Also Taylor Swift's old banjo player has a site for learning too

5 String, so I'm trying to get the 'scruggs banjo rolls' locked in my right hand so I don't have to think about it.

It'll be a great instrument to busk with in the summer if I can get good fast. So much more impressive than the Irish 4 string banjo players out on the street!

It is a very hard instrument especially 5 string one! I can look up some instructional videos for you if you would like!
