I used to have an ESP with EMG pickups in it. Think a 60 and 85. It was huge, i just didnt like the tone of them. I reckon they sound a bit artificial. Any reasons for not getting duncans ?

hi francis in regards to the EMGs i like a lot of ozzy type stuff and as zakk wylde uses them it just seemed the natural choice also a guy at my local guitar shop was thrashing out some metalica on a guitar with the emg pick ups and i was pretty impressed so it wasnt a emg vs duncan thing it was a wow whats in that guitar that sounds way cool sort of thing. i m actually paying off an esp ltd with duncans in it and i liked that tone too not sure how long they will stay in it now though as for artificial i think you would have to be a better guitarist than me to notice to be honest they actually make my playing sound a lot better i had my four kids all jumping over the house as i assed my way through the start of sweet child of mine they were blown away like i said i love them

wish you well symon

Nah wont say im a better player man. If you just want a metal sound and zakk wylde sound then yeah you got the right pickup. I like to think of EMG's as "digital" pickups. They dont have a natural sound in my opinion.I just prefer versatility which seymours give your smile.gif The pinch harmonics on those pickups are amazing tho. Hope you enjoy them and maby record something and let us hear what it sounds like!

Would be more appropriate to say. Your inexperienced smile.gif No such thing as a crappy player. If you practice enough you will be a great player.
