Hello folks,

On Sunday in Kris' livestream, I asked a question about the fretboard. If anyone is interested click HERE and scroll to 2:43:48

I'm cool with box shapes for a learning period, like pentatonic so one can start open the gates of improvisation/writing solo's.

But after that I agree with Kris, it has to be more about the ear at some point.

Guthrie's approach explained in this video is epic:

I love the concept described as moving gradually from Pentatonic to Modes.

I don't really understand, I think my engineering background causes me to look too deeply into it but, I am starting to think that you can do pretty much anything but keep notes from the triad in there and try to get to the root a few times and end on the root and you'll scrape through biggrin.gif

Cheers

Any note can work over any chord at any time ... it's all about how you get to it and how you get away from it.

preach it brother

it all comes down to this , spending enough time with you gal that you have developed an ear for how to get in and out of your current situation
