Hello GMC people
i'm Kizuna 19age i was born and raised in japan, but now im in ohio as an exchange student and studied English at a very young age. i have been playing guitar for about 3 years now but doesn't feel like it. Usually when im supposed to practice, i end up doodling with my guitar or watch non-stop videos of my "Guitar Hero" performing.
My favorite style of playing is something i cant categorize, i'm very ignorant when it comes to "Genre". i just use my ear and if i like it, i hear it.
i like listening to Japanese bands and groups. i'm a fan of Marty Friedman. i like the work he has done in Japan like "tokyo Juke box" something about his playing is unique. He just sounds different from other guitarist like Slash,Steve Vai,Paul gilbert, etc. its probably his sense of emotion that he expresses on his playing. but i dont like his Megadeth work hehe
other guitarist that i like are ; Takayoshi Ohmura, Michiya Haruhata, and Syu
favorite band is Galneryus and my guitar hero is Syu!
Im here as a beginner, and would like to improve my theory on scales and chords to make my own music. don't really like covering songs
-Thanks!!!
Hi Kizuna!! Welcome to GMC! Those are really cool influences. Marty Friedman is awesome! I think that you have to start working on Pentatonic scales but then work on major, minor, some modes and also some exotic scales to be able to compose music in that style. And don't forget the harmonic minor scale! The site is full of great material about these things... let us know if you need some guidance.
Enjoy the site!
おい!ようこそ!
Hope this is correct! I am thrilled to meet someone from Japan! My name is Cosmin, I am an instructor here and in the same time, a Japanese culture enthusiast and I am also practicing kenjutsu and battojutsu!
I would like to help out around here, so as Gabe said, please let us know what you need and we will assist
Cosmin
Hi Kizuna, welcome to GMC ! I remember you from some REC videos so it's great to see you in the forum now
Great to meet another Marty fan although I'm more of a fan of his Cacophony & Megadeth work and not the J-Pop stuff !
Either way, he's still a fantastic guitarist and great person !
Hi Kizuna and welcome to GMC!
