So I'm in a rut right now. My POD GX gave out on me and I'm looking to buy products that could ultimately lead to a better REC video. So I ask, what products do you all use (and how do you go about putting together your takes)?

Ok here i start !

Zoom G3 as Interface with its Simulations - on iMac as DAW Garageband ( without Simulations from it ) -

output Teufel Concept ( Little amp with sound card and two speakers).

I am looking forward in future to get some Apogee Interface and Logic Pro .

My takes i just record over Garageband without mixing and preparing them after record .

iMovie for videoclips .

Dieter

instead of going in with my guitar, i mic my amp with a shure m57.
cheap logitech web cam and quiktime pro.
in quiktime pro i havent figured out how to get all channels of logic to record, but when you import the video into logic your able to see the guitar track youve recorded on the timeline in double, one for the movie that recorded vid along with your guitar mic input and for the orginal that logic recorded at the same time quiktime was recording, then all i do is drag the movie audio to match the one in logic and the movie and audio match perfectly. sounds confusing blink.gif but its easy and quik.i was intending on making a screen capture vid of this proccess for todd so he can see my dilema but its acctually fine for me this way, but ill make one anyway if anyone is curious. biggrin.gif

+1 to m-audio fast track! It's the best low price + good quality audio interface that you can get.

If you find a way to get logic to feed all the tracks to quicktime, please share it with me smile.gif I'd love to be able to do that. The only answer I"ve found so far is to come out of my Audio Interface (line out stereo) and feed that to the line in on my iMac. Then quicktime can record all the output channels along with video.

it's a bit of a hack/kludge but it gets the job done smile.gif

You didn't mention anything about your budget? Are you looking to spend a couple hundred bux? Or a bit more? The money will determine more than anything else what you can get.

When I record for collabs, I often record audio and video at once, but then again some times it's easier to write the solo and just record the video later and synch them up during editing.

But if you want to do it in one pass, you can use a web cam and quicktime (on a mac) or the LOGITECH utility on a PC to specify which video and audio source you want to record.

If you buy a small camcorder, with an audio input, you can come out of your audio interface and record directly to the camera so the audio will be synched.

Whatever works smile.gif
