This is impressive work soldier! You have a bit of a flub around 2:18. Can you see it in the film? I'm impressed by how you played all of these complex rythm bits. These are the basis of much of the metal vocabulary. Can you give me that one riff one more time a bit tighter?

Sarge

The video isn't 2:18 long. I'm not sure I found the spot but I re-recorded the whole mission while I was at it. I'll post it sometime when I feel like it. I'm not quite in the mood now

Sorry for the typo Soldier. I'm talking about 0:18. My bad on that. It starts about 0:17, right in that area. It's not a huge thing. Just seemed like it wasn't up to your usual high standards of play is the only reason I bring it up. I thought it was simply an oversight and would be easy to fix. I only wanted to see that one section improved by a pinch is all.

I look forward to seeing your new vid Soldier! You've been doing solid work and making very good gains latey. keep it up!

I have created a new Mute Drill just for my BOOTCAMP SOLDIERS! This one is not for a badge. This is just to help you work on your mute. It's a very simple drill. Just palm mute the bridge, and take your fret hand OFF of the guitar entirely. This will force your palm mute to do all the mute work and show you if there are gaps in your mute. So try it as in the vid, just strike each string a few times, and move on to the next string. Make sure that you don't hear any other string other than the one you are striking. That's the point of this drill. To make sure that you can isolate all of the other strings with your palm mute.

if you notice that you hear other strings ringing, even when you are not striking them, adjust your palm mute angle/position until you find that sweet spot where your palm should be resting. This is the secret sauce folks. Once you sort this out, you won't have to worry about string noise getting in your way, even on our crazy open string licks that span several or all of the strings. It's a quick and simple drill that can really help you isolate any issues with your mute. give it a whirl!!

I'm still recording at my home using smaller amp and a DS-1. The lighting is bad, the lightbulb died and I tried finding any replacement asap but it's not great. The rest of my gear is packed and ready to get moved to my new place. I'll want to optimize the set up as much as I can, so it's just plug and play. Currently, I'm building a makeshift desk for the amp heads and pedal boxes and that might take a while. I'm considering a webcam and some Shure mic to record using streaming program like OBS. That would save me some time of moving the files from a tablet but also it's gonna cost a bit.

Anyways, here's the video:

WELCOME BACK SOLDIER!!!! It's great to have our Highest Ranking Soldier EVER back at it!!!

Well Fought Soldier!! Congrats on playing all of the drills!! Of course, only one is required for BOOTCAMP mission vids from now on but you are certainly welcome to try some or all as suits you. These are complicated riffs that require solid mute and clean picking. one wrong move and it's audible. No worries here, all are clean and solid. To wit!

I lOVE riffs like this. They are riffs but have scale bits in them. So it's not just power chords and such. It will alternate on a pedal tone and then do a scale thing. I really dig riffs that are built this way which is why I've included them smile.gif You did a great job playing them. See if you can write some riffs using these types of techniques. smile.gif

Let's Debrief!!

Another Victory! This one combines riffs with some very very long scale runs. You sort it out quite well!! These runs go all the way up and down the neck. Not an easy thing. To wit!!

Let's Debrief.
