Dose any one have this problem or am I the only one in the universe? I'm struggle with nailing lessons.
Like I'll learn a lesson but when it comes to joining it all together I make mistakes all the time even when i pratice it like 100 times. I don't seem to be able to keep my focus. Am I trying to playing to fast. Any ideas out there?

I think you just try to do it too fast! If you try to play it slower you'll do it! And don't be afraid of mistakes! You're alone in your room and you can do as many mistakes as you want. Just Do it slowly!

I've seen the light here. The thing is, you can get faster. And you might think "this is cool, I have gotten pretty fast, sure I am sloppy, but it is fast, that is understandable, being fast makes up for that". But NOBODY else looks at your playing that way. If it is not clean and well done, with timings and accents, everyone else thinks it is crap and world prefer something that has these qualities, no matter how slow it it, over what you are doing.

YES! I recognise that. Pavel is right! Even if you got the individual parts up to speed you should slow down when joining them together. It still can be trycky because in your mind you have to jump from one pice on to another and to get that working you have to practice that aswell, and like when doing the indicidual parts, make it slow.

I tried this and it worked very well.
Learning part 1 up to speed
Learning part 2 up to speed
Playing parts 1 and 2 slowly and increase speed until I got it nailed.
Learning part 3 up to speed
Playing parts 1, 2 and 3 slowly and increase speed until I got it nailed.

Here, learning parts 1 and 2 only and then parts 2 and 3 together was useless for me. then parts 2 and 3 would still be a separate piece and the problem would be to connect 1 with 2 and 3.
Learning two pieces together and joining everything together in the end didn't work for me. I got to play the entire piece.

Practise Extreme slowly and a little per once untill you get satisfied with your playing.If you make mistakes it means either you haven't practise it or you have practised mistakes.
So don't get hurry.Practise slowly within your control limits.Speed is not the whole story.It will come with your practice.

Yeah i've noticed that too.. When I learn something new that is fast and long, it's like the fingers can play it but the brain can't keep up. You just need to play it slow over and over again untill its "programmed" into your fingers.

Same for me:)

1 thing u could try is: Once u are at the point where u have a learnt all the parts, u have probably played them all 100s of time, but u have not played the linking bits at all. So in order to get them down, u need to play them 100s of times too, and if u try to do this by playing the whole song each time that will be pretty slow. So, to speed this process up, now switch to playing the overlapping bits only e.g. the last bar of part 1 and the first bar of part 2.

Make sure that you don't practice mistakes.
People say "Practice makes it perfect", but it is really "Perfect practice makes it perfect."

Thanks guys it's great to get your thoughts. I've slowed down and practice more accuately and I think my brain is actually starting to defrost. Thanks again

Slightly differently - an academic friend of mine once said when asked what he was reading, "I stopped reading years ago. My aim now is to understand what I've read."

Rather sadly I stopped reading years ago and still understand nothing .
